You need to see exactly what test he ran call his office and get a copy of the labs and we can help you figure them out!
He said they tested liver enzymes and function and then tested my blood for the presence of Hep C and also A and B just to be safe. He said there was no presence but that he has no clue how the fertility clinic claims they detected it. He said he thinks it was a false positive, but if I want to get tested in 3-6 months I can, but he doesnt feel it's necessary. Thank you for responding. Once I remembered the previous test and started researching Hep C, I have been so stressed and scared. It's been an emotional roller coaster and I am not sure if I'm still on it or if I can get off, ya know?
What kind of test did the doctor do? Liver enzymes are often within normal limits with HCV.
Having tested for antibodies also isn't *necessarily* determinate of current HCV infection.
Did the doctor do a PCR test to test for virus present in your blood? If that test is negative, you aren't infected.
Incidentally, having more than 5 sexual partners is not a risk factor for HCV infection.
Oops and I mean blood work. Darn auto correct.:)
