Stopping early?

I've been on triple therapy w geno type 1 for almost 16 weeks now. I had only had hep for 6months before starting treatment. My question is do I still have a high chance of staying und if I stop treatment at 20weeks? I was und at week 4&12. My vl was 1mil when I started.

I understand your thinking.  Often times, with new infections, shorter treatment can be effective.  However, you should finish the entire duration of your treatment unless your doctor thinks a shorter time is adequate.

If I were you.  I would want to do the entire treatment to be sure you get it knocked out.

Since you started in November, what are the 3 drugs you are using? for 24 months to complete?

"only had only had hep for 6 months before starting treatment" does that mean you were just in the acute phase or you just found out you had hep C 6 months ago?

Best of luck.  If you are having specific problems with treatment feel free to mention them.  Maybe some members can offer their opinions on what helped them to continue on and finish treatment or why they had to quit.

I agree with Can-do-man. Having gone through 20 weeks by that point, why would you want to risk relapse by stopping four weeks early.  Keep in mind that even if you go through the full 24 weeks, there is always the possibility you may relapse and not achieve SVR.  That alone may be enough for you to stay on treatment for the full  24 weeks.

Good luck with your decision and reaching SVR!

Once you have Hep C you have it. Not sure if I am understanding your question but why would you want to risk such a high chance of being cured by quitting treatment 4 weeks early? You have to ask yourself, is it worth the risk... Good luck
