dose reduction vs procrit. AGAIN

A week ago Friday my hmg was 9.3 dr reduced me to 600 from 1000 of riba and ordered procrit. So last friday my pharmacy called and let me know that they had gotten approval from insurance for it. So I called my dr. to ask the question about just staying reduced rather than introduce another drug with shot 20 coming up on friday. Well they just called me back and np informed me they would prefer me to go on the procrit rather than stay reduced. So  I made a deal. I have the riba pack it comes in 600 and 400 mg tablets. So the deal I made was to try 800 mg a day and see how my hmg holds up and if it doesnt then I guess I have a choice to make. Go against my dr. and possibly risk svr or  do the procrit and go back up to 1000. Darn I hate this! I am g2 just on soc and have been und since week 4!!!!

I'm only 102, down from 105, sounds like nothing but my jeans fit again~ yea!

Maybe going higher with the riba is right for your weight.
Heck it is only 5 weeks.

Before April Fools Day, we'll be done.

Be well

@OH. I started treatment at 136 and now I'm 128 ish varies but never over 130. isnt that he's hard to work with he just seems very "particular" about what he wants, but is open to discussion. Just nervious about risking UND and eventually SVR. Four more weeks!!!!  After all he  is the expert. So difficult, it seems like we are raised to have almost blind faith in Dr.'s and its hard to go against there knowledge. Guess its just wait and see. So tomorrow I start 800 and see how I feel.  Hoping for the best.!!!!!   :) Positive, Positive!!!

She's on SOC, geno 2, doing 24 weeks with 5 to go.
( I know because we're neck and neck to the finish line)

Plese don't be confused with so many here that is dose reducing, treating with a PI added is very much different then just SOC... Where dose reducing is not such a great ideal and never has been. That said procrit takes a few weeks to work, the 800 riba though sounds like a fair trade off.... Wishing you the best.

"Go against my dr. and possibly risk svr or  do the procrit and go back up to 1000."

Doesn't sound hard to me.

How much do you weigh ?

I'm 102 ( lost 3lbs) and had my riba reduced from 800 to 600, because I was getting short of breath.  Mostly riba is weight based.

You know when they reduced my riba Hector sent me some research showing that riba reduction didn't affect SVR.
I'll try to find it if I can.

It is hard having a doctor you can't work with~
