If you can good for you but my doc said make treatment the priority for right now so I felt it was my get out of jail for free card and smoked. I wish to quit but I dont think they'd allow me to drink at work.............and that is what I'd need. What I have though is a lot of good excuses.
I SVRd.
If you can quit, all the better, but starting tx and quitting smoking at the same time might be a challenge. I was finally able to kick the habit (40 year) days before starting tx and after MANY failed attempts over the years. I guess it was the right time for me and I haven't touched another cig in 2 1/2 years. My focus was so strong to get healthy at the time that it finally worked.
Does it affect tx outcome - I don't know. But from my experience, once my hemoglobin dropped, smoking would have exacerbated some of the shortness of breath issues I experienced. Good luck to you in quitting and with tx, Pam
I'm smoking more than usual during tx ... good or bad ... in it's way it's a help .. tx is hard enough physically and mentally .. quitting smoking would be good for all .. but to me would add unnecessary stress during Tx , that's me .. everyone different .. will try to quit after I'm done .. Wk 29 .. 19 more to go ..
The question really is .. does smoking effect Tx outcome .. seems there are allot of other factors more influential during Tx .. like Insulin resistance ( HOMA-IR ) .. did you check that yet ? Lipid levels HDL , LDL ... and in SOC Tx did you check your IL28b first ? All these subjects have been discussed at length here ..
Hope you get a good response , Aaron
