Telprevir Relapse--NOT

Just an up date to all the people who answered my questions and showed so much concern...We got outside blood work in today and my husband is CLEAR...... Not the relapse that the Dr. said. Thank you all for the well wishes and for the prayers. Best of luck for all you are going through and I will keep all in my prayers.....

I am soooooo glad to hear your great news!!!!!

I can tell you this.....I know there have been other complaint from some centers to Vertex because of the "cruel wording" of the letter.

Once again.....so happy for you and your husband!!!!!!!  Thanks for keeping us posted.

Talked to his study Dr. today and even sent copies of the last three results from 2007 and the last two we had done in Oct.08  and Jan. 09. He is showing them to the head of the study Dr. just to confirm, but was truly sorry. I also told him he needed to get in contact with the other people in this group and let them know it just MIGHT NOT be bad news....Vertex needs to find a better way to keep it a blind study but not put a knife in your heart over "wording"....Thanks again to all I will keep up on the progress.

I have also " heard" that they are trying to get the drug out sooner so hopefully everyone will be able to have a chance at finally getting the gone once and for all.....

Good news debbie, next time you talk with that doc bring a  hidden tape recorder and sue him if he scares you, terrible  to say your husband has relapsed when he hasn´t !!

Best of luck to you and your husband!!

Believe me I am bringing in his results on the 23rd.. I know he just needs to go about telling people a different way so they do not have to go through the things we did... Believe me I told him about the being clear at 7 wks but he just is just so full of doom and gloom.. Imagine if he were being told the same thing.. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.. But to all that might be taking it.. Best of luck... I think it just might be what eveyone needs to finally get rid of this.....Thank again to all

That's great news and thanks for updating us. As many of us suspected, what your doctor told you was not consistent with the letter you got, as ambiguous as that letter might have been. Curious what your doc said about all this, or haven't you shown him the test results. I would, not just to bring him down off his horse but so he doesn't scare any more current (or future) trial participants with an erroneous interpretation of why someone has to stop the trial. Good luck that your husband's UND translates into an SVR. Here's the original thread -- quite a story really -- for those interested, and one more example why it's imperative we all do our own homework because the docs don't always.

We aren't sure when they will let us know but he stopped all treatment at the end of week 24 so we know he was clear at wk 7 and again at wk27.... The whole idea with the Telprevir is for the treatment to be over at 24wks. And is seems to have worked........

This is fantastic news! So glad that it is turning out well. When will Vertex actually tell you what is going on, I wonder?
