If you drink alcohol in any form or amount STOP NOW! It's a very bad thing for stage 3 and 4. As said above get thee to a hepatologist. My Meld score is 6, I've been told 15 and above is transplant territory. So don't put this off, calmly start the process of getting treatment. Keep in touch. All the best.
Oh no please get to a good hep doctor right away, I can't believe that you weren't advised to do this in 2005.......
Generally stage four indicates cirrhosis, and in this case your MELD score bears that out. You could ask your doctor specifically which pathology scale was used to describe your fibrosis; Ishak, Metavir, etc...
Have you undergone antiviral therapy in the past? What are you currently doing to remedy your liver disease and how are you managing? Are you experiencing signs of decompensation, including ascites (swelling of the abdomen), edema (swelling of the feet and/or ankles), esophageal varices (bleeding of the esophagus) or HE ( brain fog)?
Hopefully you’re in the care and supervision of a hepatologist; if not, you’ll want to see one soon. Have you previously been evaluated for liver transplant?
Good luck-
Bill
The fibrosis is graded on a 5-point scale from 0 to 4. The activity, which is the amount of inflammation (specifically, the intensity of necro-inflammatory lesions), is graded on a 4-point scale from A0 to A3.
Fibrosis score:
F0 = no fibrosis
F1 = portal fibrosis without septa
F2 = portal fibrosis with few septa
F3 = numerous septa without cirrhosis
F4 = cirrhosis
Activity score:
A0 = no activity
A1 = mild activity
A2 = moderate activity
A3 = severe activity
Activity " is another term for Grading (inflamation) . .
I am not sure about the meld score, I will let someone else answer that.
did you do treatment in 2005? What type do you have?
