ALT and AST Markers increasing - WHY???

My husband has Hep C, liver Firbosis F0, we went to the doctor and she subscribed Liver Protective pills for one month after a month of this theraphy the liver markers ALT and AST increased, why do you think it would happen?
Maybe it is better not to take any drugs and just be on Diet?
Have any of you experienced increase of ALt and AST markers while taking liver protector drugs?
