Thank you, Debbie! All sounds like food I like :) so won't be a problem to add to my diet.
They are watching my TSH, so far within the norm. They used to request TSH and CBC every week. Today I had an appointment and my nurse said my numbers were so stable that they don't have to do weekly tests anymore. So my next ones will be at 12 weeks, both PCR, TSH, CBC. I just hope that I still will be undetectable at 12 weeks. Keeping my fingures crossed!
Thank you! The cheesecake was awesome! 2 slices of New York style cheesecake and today my scale showed 2 lbs more :) Sweet life! :)
And sunshine one thing to keep in mind aside from the hyperthyroid possibility (happened to me about week 24 - week 9 does seem way to early for any of this)...for most of us the weight comes back after treatment and then some.
Try drinking ensure and other protein like shakes, worse come to worse milkshakes have a lot of calories and since there are so many flavors of ice cream you don't get bored with them. It worked for me. Even just noshing on hand fulls of sugary cereal...anything to keep some calories coming in.
For me it did slow down (but I did have the thyroid problem from the interferon I was hyper and then went hypo...) are you losing a lot of hair? Any of the other symptoms of Grave's Disease (hyper thyroid). it's usually hard to tell because they mimic the symptoms of our side effects.
Make sure your doc is watching your TSH number!
Happy Belated Birth Day to You! How was the cheese cake? Ummmmmmm
My thyroid according to labs is ok, within norm. I eat greek diet mainly - salads, fish, fruit and veggies. Love cheesecake, but actually stopped eating it a long time ago - when diagnosed with hcv, cause I thought that all the callories from cheesecake and junk food wouldn't be good for my liver. I guess, the suggestion now is to increase my caloric intake somehow, preferably with healthy food... I have my follow up appointment tomorrow, will talk to my doc about it. Thank you so much for all the comments!
Oh, yes - and I am having a cheesecake today - it's my birthday!!! :)
I am 6' and weighed 180 at beginning of treatment and weighed 90 lbs after 6 mos of Tx. I just couldn't eat and my then Quack Hepatologist never said a word so I was
blissfully ignorant. My new Hepatologist didn't believe me until I showed him the pictures. I now am at 165 and holding-4 years to get to this point and am comfortable
at this weight.
i didnt lose any weight at all,i wish i did lol,i need to lose a few kilos.
yeh id def get ya thyroid checked too,iv heard of tx doin tht, also it can mk us gain weight iv heard too.i was very active b4 tx and tx just knocked me for a sixer so i sat on my bum most of tx and maybe thts why i didnt lose weight.
good luck
Good suggestion from newleaf to get your thyroid checked. 22 lbs. is a lot of weight for only 9 weeks in. I am trying to keep off most of the weight I lost on tx, and it is hard. Had to change some habits. Suggestion to slow down weight loss? Cheesecake!
Yes I fully sympathise with you I have also lost 80 lbs in my 36wks so far & with 12wks to go I dont want to loose anymore ... But the good news is I dont have high blood pressure now, no more BP medication is great I I did need to loose weight , my fear is after Tx going back to old eating habits... I'm doing my best to not put it back on, stay healthy ...
Keep an eye on your thyroid levels. I've heard that malfunction can affect your weight. Ahhh, now you get to drink malts and eat cookies or ice cream with your riba. Just don't get too used to it; hard to stop after you finish TX. Took me months to kick the cookie snack habit.
