Amen...agree with you hrsepwrguy....but it's a uphill battle....as many of you would agree....
There are medical people working in our hospitals and medical practices who don't seem to know everything. I can not tell you how many a nurse or CNR I've had to correct when they have made statements to me. Even had the a clinical physiologist who works with the liver transplant unit state something erroneous to me. I immediately got hold of my hepatologist and let him know so they can get correct info to these individuals.
I stopped going to regular family doctors...will only go to doctors who are well versed in HCV...I now have an internist who knows his stuff. It is mind boggling.
I have gone to many class instructions for new drug combos and just sit back and listen to each of the individuals in there telling their stories and "what their doctor said" and I am appalled. Even the drug manufacturers reps and our clinical nurses have varying opinions on what you can and can't do.
That's why I come here. Thank God for Hector. Plus there are many others of you on this site who provide helpful information. This website has been a blessing to me because I wasn't getting the answers I needed. Now I go to my appointments armed with information. A bit disarming to my hepatologist but it is what it is....and it's my life we're playing roulette with so.....come on medical field.......get it right.
"Have unprotected sexual contact with a person who has hepatitis C"
The blind leading the blind IMHO, they make it sound like this is one of the main ways hep c is spread, all of the attention to hep c since national tv commercials is great but they need to get it right
Disregard prior link given. Apparently though dated today on the online link, the articles are very dated except for this one:
