TX is the abbreviation for treatment. Treatment currently consists of 24-48 weeks of interferon and ribavirin. Next year there will be some new drugs that will be added to the other two and increase the odds depending on what genotype (strain) of the disease you have.
How many weeks you treat depends on many factors. If you treated before and did not respond or relapsed some people will extent treatment a second time to 72-96 weeks, if you have genotype 2 or 3 and have not treated before the normal course of treatment is 24 weeks, if you have genotype 1 or 4 the normal treatment for people who have not treated before is 48 weeks. many people are waiting until next year to add the new drugs, but they are not effective with all genotypes.
Have you seen a hepatologist and been evaluated for your condition and genotype?

To the right of this page near the bottom there is a link to "Common Hepatitis C Acronyms." It's a helpful little cheat sheet.
All the best.
Thanks for the info on this. I am going to see my Hep C Dr. today to find out more about how I am doing. I know I have gnome type 1, and I have never been treated before. I am bi-polar and very depressed so my Hep C Dr. is sending me to a psychiatrist at the hospital to see if he can help my mood, since interferon causes severe depression. Then, if this works, he will put me on treatment. Thanks for the advice and I hope all goes well for you.
Thanks for your answer to my question on what is TX. That is a handy little cheat sheet of acronyms. Hope all is going well for you. Thanks again.
