Possible to transmit with undetectable levels

I had unprotected vaginal sex one time  with a girl that had hep c and had it cured to undetectable levels 5 years ago.  She was also on her period when we had sex.  She was tested every six months for 2 years and always had undetectable levels.  Is it possible that I could have contracted this ?? Very worried.

You didn't burst anyone's bubble but what you did do is post incorrect information.  If no detectable level of virus in the blood after 1 year you CANNOT transmit the virus.  Hepc does NOT go into remission.  Either you eradicate the virus and treatment or you don't.  Perhaps you should find a more knowledgeable doctor and continue with your studies.  I can't believe your lack of knowledge.

I would be very interested in seeing any studies which support your statements.

She can only give you what she has, and apparently did.  But, it wasn't hepatitis C. So, I guess you came out OK.

If your girl had a two year post tx test that indicated UND then you're fine.

But, if your gf was reinfected somehow (drugs/needles) then you could could it during sex (espcially during her period) thru blood.

If they dont have the virus they cannot spread the virus.  Undetectible for two years is literally cured. But there is no immunity with this disease and you can be infected again so there is no real answer to the question......unlikely unless the person were to be transfused or do IV drugs or get a tattoo or fall into the group of people that have no idea where they got it from because they did not do any of the above.

Sex is not an efficient method for transference of HCV unless of course there is anal sex or menstrual blood involved. In your case it could be (If she were reinfected).

Thank you for responding nygirl.  To make it more clear I was basically asking if a person who has been UNDETECTABLE for 2 years still transmit the virus via vaginal sex as I was describing  ??

Sorry upon rereading your post if she was UNDETECTIBLE for over two years you did not get it from her unless she was reinfected then certainly you could have.
