Deciding on whether to participate in a trial or not is a decision that you should think hard about before trying, Keep in mind that any trial you participate in is a drug that is in development and not FDA approved. Many drugs do not make it out of trials and get canceled due to side effects or toxicities they discover. While many new drugs are in development and some are very promising there are many more that were hyped only to be canceled due to problems. It is a calculated risk you take.
In my case, I was never happy with the SVR rates for standard treatment, especially in light of the serious side effects they produce in some people. I read a lot and follow a lot of drugs in development as many ohers here do. I decided that I am willing t take that risk with R 7128. It is still in phase 1 whereas VX 950 is in phase 3. It has had (VX 950) a really good track record so far but also is not perfect as their are reports of severe rashes and some evidence of viral mutations in the earlier trials. Being it is in phase 3 with a large group to study the picture will get a little clearer on that drug. I hope that helps and good luck in your decision just think long and hard about it first.
...jump in with both feet.....I am. I start on Friday. I have read so many good things. If you get the new drug, you have a higher chance of clearing in half the time. I am assuming that you are geno 1.
Gator...
I have a chance to take VX950 but I'm scared of the possible risks.
What kind of insight are you looking for? I just started a trial yesterday so I can not offer first hand long term personal stories but your post did not mention what kind of insight you are looking for,
