hep c patient and marriage

i am 27 old lady, i want an opinion from all of you, that should i get marry or i should be virgin whole my life?will my decision of marriage can destroy someone's life?i m having my treatment of Silymarin,and doctor says i m fine and have no need of interferon as well. can u people help me to take a decision?

I agree with Mike. There are lots of people on here who have done tx and no longer have the virus circulating in their blood stream... which means they are cured.

Dave... sorry you relapsed. I hope this round of tx does the trick. I really wonder why you didn't wait until the new PIs came to the market and go that route.

There are many very well credentialed hepatologists who call SVR "a cure". And I do too. Maybe it's how you define "cure".

A little over 10 years ago I got a liver transplant due to HCV. I treated and achieved SVR in June 2004. I have been undetectable since then and my ALT is consistently in the low teens or lower. 9 - 14 over the last 6 years. My AST, GGT, platelet count and bilirubin are likewise well within the normal range.

Gay sex in often anal and that can cause tearing, which begets bleeding. If both partners bleed, then it could be passed on. In the course of the past 35 years, I was involved with two women, one for 12 years and the other for 16 years. Both were on the pill, so we never used condoms, etc.. Neither has the virus. If you meet someone, be honest and use condoms, until or unless you decide to stop, or not.

Now for the second thing. There is no cure for Hep C, at least not yet. What doctors tell you is that the virus is undetectable. Maybe someday there will be a cure, maybe. I've done the pegasys/ribaviron treatment for a year. It worked for a while. Then my liver went downhill quickly. A little over a year ago, I received a liver transplant. About 2 months ago my enzymes started elevating and last week, I went back on pegasys/interferon. My liver is fine and by doing the "cocktail," I intend to keep it that way. Be well. **David**

i have red your story (i m aloof ) and i can tell you that you consulted a very incompetent doctor , i will hang him if it was in my hand , he really pissed me off , you are young with a long life in front of you , you are a perfect candidate for treatment with a huge chance of curing the virus , go see another doctor and ask for treatment , your liver is good now but it won't be in 20 years , look at the bright side if you had treatment marring your lover won't be a problem ,and if you are lucky it will only take 6 month

Although silymarin may help your liver function.  It doesn't kill the Hep C virus. If it did we all would have avoided Interferon and riba.

Get a new doctor, your only 27 !  You have your whole life in front of you.  Get rid of the virus and live without worry.

Congratulations on your new lease on life!  An experienced GI or hepatologist is the best kind of doctor to see to help with hep c and liver disease.  Whether or not the disease has done damage to you is best assessed by a physician, who may recommend a liver biopsy (which is worse than it sounds).  However, seeing a GI or hepatologist will assist you in deciding whether or not this is necessary in getting the answers you need.

Hey i am new here too. I have been clean for 8 months and dont ever want to live that way again... I was injecting drugs and caught hep c.. now that i am living my new life with insurance now.. I can go to dr. they said my liver ensymes have went down lower.. thats good news the doc wants me to go to G.I. I have had this since i was 20years old do you think it has affected me yet.... The middle of my back hurts all the time.. always tired.. and my belly is sometimes swolen it seems..Anyway could use some feed back! Thanks for listening!!!

Silymarin is not a cure for hepc and never will be. Did your doctor base his comment on the results of a liver biopsy or other test?  If your doctor means your liver disease is not advanced and you don't need treatment right now, that's fine but liver disease will advance the longer you have hepc, regardless of the supplements you take.  That is what hepc does, attacks the liver so keep your options open if you do need interferon at some point in your life.

Why not get married?  You deserve every happiness this world has to offer and the with institution of marriage the happiness and joy in life is doubled.  (for most)

Get married, I did.  I haven't passed it on to my husband.  Having Hep C isn't a prison sentence. Educate yourself as much as you can about so that you can talk about it with him. Practice safe sex and enjoy your life!!!  If you are REALLY worried you could look at getting treatment despite what your doctor says.  Perhaps you could seek a second opinion.

In answer to your post... why not get married ? Many of us have lived a long life with diagnosis worse than this, and if you are concerned with ruining someones  life be up front and honest about your condition, then leave the rest up to them. imo for what it's worth.. Good luck to you.
