Ginger, I am so sorry to hear about your HCV and kidney diagnosis.  There must be other Hepatologists in the are.  In fact, Orphan Hawk started a thread where everyone added their doctor to the list.  Perhaps I can find and come back with the list for you.  In the mean time others may stop by to help out.
This is a great place to find support

If you don't like your hepatologist ask the center to transfer your case to someone else. This happens all the time and is nothing you should feel bad about.

Depending on how much liver disease you have, having both liver and kidney disease makes you case more complicated. So you need a good doctor to coordinate the care for both issues.

Very few people die of liver disease. Even if your liver fails you have the option of a liver transplant. Death is not an issue useless you have decompensated cirrhosis (ascites, bleeding varices, and other life-threatening complications) and can't get a transplant. It does not sound like that is the position you are in. Many liver transplant patients have kidney problems both before and after transplant so it is not uncommon for hepatologists to manage both.

Please don't waste your time and stress yourself over something that is not a real issue. Get a doctor you can communicate with then focus on your next steps.

Good Luck.
