I'm not feeling any worse yet. I'm thinking cleaning the bathrooms (even though I wear a mask) and just over doing it for a few days has got me down. I truly had no way to get anywhere wednesday so I figured I would see if it got worse. I've also had asthma off and on my whole life so I thought it might be coming back.
I think I've taken Cipro, but I can't remember for sure. I know I'm allergic to sulfa and that limits what we use sometimes. I'm allergic to prednisone too. There's some kindof fancy inhaler they usually give me but the additives give me problems, so I'm limited to antib's and albuterol. I will be calling the very second I notice it getting worse and I have an appt tuesday so I will see him next week regardless.
I think you should call you doctor or go to an urgent care clinic if your doctor is completely inaccessible. I had a very bad cough throughout most of my tx, and developed asthma too. It did feel like pneumonia (which I had just last year), but it wasn't. I also had an extreme UTI near the end of tx, one that spread all the way into my kidneys within one day of beginning. It responded to high dose cipro. I do think you need to have your lungs checked out by a pulmonologist. They put me on an inhaler for the duration, but I've heard of some people getting much worse lung problems due to drug reactions. Be careful with your lungs and get it checked!
My son is given a Z-pack, for pneumonia, which is call Azithromyacin, I think. It is a five day course, with the first day 2 pills, and the next 3 days, one pill. Have you tried this?
The problem seems to be, while our bodies our busy,
fighting this virus, it is easier for us to get bacterial and fungal infections, unfortunately.
There are many different types of antibiotics, and super strong ones used, for medically resistant infections.
It is always a good idea, while on this Treatment, to take care of infections as soon as possible, so they dont snow-ball, and become serious, which may jeopardize our Treatment.
I think you should go in to the E.R. if you feel worse, since you posted this, and have your lungs listened to. If it is pneumonia, antibiotics should be started now, but not the sameones you just took, of course
The way it was explained to me is that antibiotics don't work as well (or at all) if your white cell count is low. If you had blood drawn yesterday, your white cell counts might be back already - doesn't hurt to call. Cipro worked for me when I was on tx.
