itchy eyes

Has anyone experienced eye problems when they were diagnosed? For  about the last year I have the feeling like little "critters" moving about in them.Sounds funny but could this be the virus moving?I went to the eye dr and he doesnt see anything and the feeling is still there.Kinda feels sandy and gritty ,dry and "Moving"? Any ideas?

Ask away... Most people are here to help you get through this. I don't know why, but it sure makes it easier for me to ask whatever comes up and get input from a bunch of different view points. As I'm sure you have noticed... everybody has different experiences with this stuff, but you'll find somebody who knows what you are feeling at the time... almost every time.

I have had the exact feeling that your describing for a very long time.  vBefore TX, during TX and still 2 + years after TX.  Some days I use eyewash 3 times a day.  What washes out is something that looks like sleep that one has in the mornings.  The eyewash is the only thing that I have found that helps.

When I first noticed this feeling over a year ago I went to my op and he gave me a precrription for dry eyes-didnt help. Then a few weeks ago I went to him again cuz i had my yearly physical for my job and I didnt want to flunk the eye test.He said  my vision hasnt changed at all in 2 yrs.No spots or floaters but do have a cataract starting in the left eye.I just thought that maybe the virus had something to do with it since I started feeling CRAPPY about the same time my eyes started bothering me...By the way I paased my physical with flying colors (Gosh if they knew what I know  Ha) Thanks

The virus is so tiny that you'd never feel it if it were in your eyes. What you describe sounds very uncomfortable though. I hope Portann's suggestion helps.

Oh, and about the itchy eyes, I used OTC  'Refresh", which the pharma said was better for some reason than the OTC product my mom always used. Also, she recommended sunglasses and although I can't tell you why this would help, I think they did.

No, it doesn't sound funny at all to have this problem. My mom used to complain about these critters, too, but she didn't have HCV, only very dry eyes. Lately, I've been seeing little moving black dots but I don't have HCV anymore. I'm not sure what it is but I looked it up and read that it's quite common and in most cases, not serious:

"Spots and Floaters are small clumps of gel that form in the vitreous - the clear jelly-like fluid that fills the inside cavity of the eye. Although they appear to be in front of the eye, they are actually floating in the fluid inside the eye and are seen as shadows by the retina. They may appear as little dots, circles, lines or cobwebs and are normally caused by the aging process. Normally they are no cause for concern, but if they develop suddenly, you should consult your optometrist."
