Hepatitis C - Psoriasis - SVR - Relapse

Hi, my last test for viral load and liver functions was approx. one year ago.  This test was taken 3 years after stopping treatment and showed I was still clear of the virus (SVR) and showed 100% normal liver function, normal enzymes, which had consistently been the case a couple months after stopping treatment.  I had psoriasis a few years prior to treating (which got seriously worse during treatment) and skin cleared up about 4 - 5 months after treatment.  

I am wondering if anybody else out there had what either they and/or their doctors considered Hep C - related psoriasis, achieved SVR for a few years after stopping treatment and had psoriasis come back?  I can't think of any way I could have been re-infected.

Okay, I am a little worried, guess I want some encouragement that a few spots of psoriasis does not mean the Hep C is back since it will be a few weeks before I can get appointment, get blood work back, etc.

Hi, I'll take a look at this article...in any event I'll have my answer in a couple weeks after seeing doctor, I am due for a physical anyway.  It has just been a little unsettling having it return after being gone for a couple years. Did you husband treat with interferon?  If so, I hope it was successful...hopefully his psoriasis is not too bad, it really has an awful effect on the quality of life.

This is a link to an article about alcohol, psoriasis and liver disease.  It is a PDF file so I couldn't paste any of it here but you might want to look at it.  It suggests there is a correlation between alcohol and psoriasis but not liver disease although I have read other articles that say it is.

My husband has psoriasis and he will never not have it.  I think once you have it you have it.  It is auto immune related and hepatitis C has been know to trigger autoimmune related problems.  I do not think that it signals a relapse for you but maybe a breakdown in the auto immune system.  It is not curable.  I hope it goes no farther than those few spots.

Hi marcus...I have never had psoriasis,others may chime in on that...however  if your labs showed UND .at three years.post treatment ,I think you can rest assured that the skin problem is very likely a separate issue.  Congrats on your SVR.
