Different dosages of a med will do different things. I never found darvon to do anything for me either but now I'm on suboxone so eventually I did find the right painkiller that is for sure :(
I'm sure your doctor will not want you to go cold turkey after 2 years so you'd better call them right away or you could really be in trouble. I was able to get off vicodin after years but once I was on stronger meds it was just impossible. It's no fun.
someone on another board (fibromyalgia) said her doctor put her on low dose codeine, no Tylenol.
I am surprised that methadone is somewhat the same as darvon. Darvon (to me) is just about useless / weak and I always thought methadone was a high powered drug, never took it tho.

Sorry about the spelling! :)
Its interesting and somewhat scary how many drugs are approved ,used for many years and then pulled off the market because of them doing, in many cases more harm than good.
It makes you wonder about, like you mentioned in another post , the validity, over the long haul,of their trials?
fret,
I guess detox from any narcotic is difficult but I've always heard withdrawal from methadone is worse. I suppose you could stay on it for life but how effective would it be after years of use? Don't you have to keep upping the dosage?

What a coincidence, I swear as a was reading this thread, a commercial from a Lawyer came on the TV “If you have taken Dorvon or Dorvacet , call the Law Offices of ………”
Interesting, I didn't hear about the recall but I did hear that it wasn't gonna be made anymore which unfortunately leaves you in the same boat either way. A very close relative of the darvon and darvon-n family is methadone. A doctor once told me that the chemical structure is only one molecular step away from each other. You don't have to go to a maintenance clinic to get it either as I've been on it for years now. I have heard of tramadol but have never used it so IDK. You could go in many different directions, come to think of it you may want to get something quickly. good luck
