sauna/steam room

Does anyone have any experiences, or opinions regarding the use of either a sauna or a steam room for a cirrhotic with portal hypertension and edema? I am thinking of using one at my local gym.

Thanks for the reply, James.  I am not currently on tx.  I tried the steam room today, for about 8 minutes, and felt pretty good after.  My body was somewhat red when I came out, but it returned to normal after the shower.  One thing that I did notice this evening is that I am urinating much more frequently and the edema seems better.  Maybe just a coincidence.

You are under tx currently aren't you? One of the sides with some, me, is an intolerance of heat and humidity. This past summer it just pulled all the strength out with the sweat. Go with a friend, have someone sit there, ready to pull you out if need be.
If you haven't already, cut out added salt and look for low sodium foods. Salt, of course, retains fluids.
All the best.
