Hi, Kathy, congratulations! Now the odds are terrific for you. Six more months, and hopefully you can "forget" this (or)deal.
Best wishes for continued good health.

Kathyf. Happy to hear the great news!!! Go celebrate!
As for the sides and being an athlete -- I started out for the first three months on tx going to the gym and continuing my workout. Soon after I started loosing weight and was very tired. I stopped the exercise and just rested a lot. Everyone's different so keep it up until your body says no way. Drink plenty of water.

Well, I have some more good news for you 1's. For those of you who don't know me, I am a 1b. Doctor thinks I got the Hep C from a manicure since I never did drugs and never had a transfusion and they just can't find any other way I could have gotten it. When I started treatment last year, I only had a viral load of 200,000 and cleared the viurs about 10 weeks into treatment. I started TX in June of last year and ended May 20th, 2003. I ended the treatment after 46 weeks. I went for my 3 month blood test and I am still virus free. Yeah!!! I go for my next test in December sometime.
I can't say that my sides were minimal but they were tolerable. I worked the entire time I was on treatment. I did cut my hours down a bit since I usually work a 10 hour day. The last few weeks of treatment were hard for me since I developed mouth sores and being that my appetite was already gone, I could hardly eat. I lost 45 lbs on TX. After I stoped the treatment, I gained a little back each week. I feel much better now. My hair is starting to grow back but it is still pretty fine. I had a lot of curly hair. It is straigter and thinner now. I will let you know by the end of the year how it looks. My white and red blood counts were low at the end of treatment and I was on shots for that.
I am happy for everyone who makes it through and stays virus free. Kind of makes it all worth the stuggle and helps others to hang in there.
Best to All
Hang in There
kathyf and L.I.Girl ~ congratulations!!!! ~ excellent news ~ thank you for sharing and giving all of us 1's hope! Enjoy your new life!
slarso ~ I am a 1a, 50F, vl 576,000 to start. On week 18 of Pegasys/Riba combo. I'm no athlete, but I was one of those people who never stood still.........I work at home, so that helps, but I also care for my elderly Mom and am at her house for hours each day. I am blessed with minimal sides so far. At first, fatigue was rough, but after 6 or 8 weeks it became better. What everyone says is true ~ one day can be so different from the next. I walk on my treadmill and just play it by ear how long I stick with it for the day. Some days, it's barely a stroll, others I hike right along. Some days I tear around like a crazy woman ~ some days I'm a little slower, but I can do whatever needs to be done so far. Try to keep a good attitude and deal with the sides if they come. And drink lots of water! I wish you a smooth ride!

please try to stick around here...help us all greatest news...love.

Congratulations to you LI Girl! Just to let everyone know, my Dr. told me today that since I am SVR at 6 months, I now have a 95%+ chance of staying that way for the rest of my life. I had no idea the odds were THAT good! Thanks for all your kind responses - I really don't know what I would have done without this site before, during and after treatment. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
