Post Incivek Transition

I completed 12 weeks of Incivek 4/6 and was UND.  Felt great the following weekend to get back to a normal eating schedule, disappearing rash, and at least warm showers.  Now a settling into Riba and Interferon for the remainder to 48 weeks and remembering they were no cake walk in 2006.

Incivek is such a dominant drug and dosing schedule that to make it work, you really sacrifice everything else.  I worked, followed the schedule, read, skipped work, stayed by myself as much as possible, and did whatever I thought would help.  I lived life in 8 hour segments.

With this dosing, you believe that you can adopt a more normal life style and in some ways you can, but it takes just as much personal management as before.  I am not sleeping as well, tend to be a little more irritable, and just not feel good all the time.  The sx of interferon and riba are more noticeable.

I think the timeline is part of the challenge - incivek was tough, but it was 12 weeks - another 36 is a long time.

I am happy that UND and maybe this will be the last time I go through treat.  Writing this is good therapy cause everyone here understands.

Rest, eat right, drink lots of water, exercise, minimize conflicts - and repeat.

Not complaining as I know many have it tougher, just working through the tx.

You both are doing a great job.  Hang on there!  There is life after tx.  It has been 2 months since I finished a grueling tx and I feel better than I have in years
Wishing you both the very best

I finished the Incivek on 4/4/12. Like you, I'm feeling better but I'm also dealing with the Riba/inf sx, which are no cake walk. The biggest side is the anemia. My 80 year old mother can get from point A to point B faster than I can, and she doesn't have to stop to rest!

Also, after 12 weeks of never being late for a dose of medicine, I'm suddenly struggling to remember to take my Riba, even though I have a pill organizer and multiple alarms. My forgetfulness is frightening.

Congrats on UND! Thankfully, I am too at 12 weeks.

Take care.
