I don't have any literature to back it up, but I have my experiences and opinion.  In my opinion, yes, it affects your memory and ability to concentrate and stay focused on specific tasks.  Susan400

Hep c may have added memory loss for me. I know that when fatigue hits I just don't care to remember much.
However, I believe memory loss is normal and increases with age so it might not  be hep c that is causing it.
I definitely feel that my year and a half of interferon shots had an effect on my memory though.

Wishing you a successful treatment .

Back when I was first diagnosed (94), my then dr - a gastro gave me a list of symptoms - and darned if I had not been experiencing them all.  One of them was memory loss, especially short term memory loss.  I was treated with INF - injections 3 x wk - and a side effect of that - taken from their literature was - you guessed it - short term memory loss!  So I went from total recall to not being sure of anything on 2  accts.  the INF STMLoss seems to be permanent, but as I treat - will take 45th dose this a.m., I am seeing improvement, which my husband verifies - he is seeing the improvement also.  My opinion only, the Sol/ Riba is dealing with the hepc so that STMLoss is improving

Since my memory is still not what it should be, this list may not be complete, but it seems to me that the symptoms included bloodshot eyes, itching all over (especially noticable to me when I was laying down, trying to rest),  extreme fatigue, easy and unexplained bruising, low grade temp, the memory loss, brain fog to the enth degree, loss of appetite.  Seems there were one or two others but can't recall them.

So, to answer your question, yes, memory loss certainly can be a result of the hepc, but if my experience now is correct, that may improve with treatment - personal experience only. Pat

I can only speak from my own experience (and symptoms are a good thing to talk about on a forum like this, it seems the docs don't really want to talk about them, unless they have it, or you have a very understanding one ;-)  The last few years, yes...I was experiencing more and more brain fog, but not to the point that I was very mentally debilitated, but yes, I'd get foggy at times, for sure. Hopefully when you treat in October, that will be behind you. Best of luck!
