My husband is age 60, stage 4 cirrhosis complicated by hcc, cardiac artery disease (post stent), but doing treatment. As hcvJames points out, for stage 4's it is the best option to pursue rather than none at all. Cirrhosis progression can lead to renal complications as well, so with a chronic kidney condition it might be more indication for you to treat rather than reason not to, but not knowing your specifics, I'd say you should be consulting with your nephrologist and cardiologist about the question as well as seeking the expertise of an experienced hepatologist knowledgeable about treating patients with cirrhosis. Good luck. ~eureka
Hi. I am 59, stage 4, cirrhosis, and have something of a kidney problem. One third of my left kidney is dead but not actively diseased. UND at week 10, and every since (now shot 46). To my thinking, not to treat was not an option. You have complications and must consult with all your docs but the basic decision must be to treat. All the best. Let us know what you decide.
Sorry that should be hepatologist not a heapatologist :)
Also welcome to the forum
As for being stage 4 (cirrhosis) yes you could be cured, myself and others here are proof of that. Would it be safe to do tx with your other health issues? Only a good heapatologist could answer that..........Wishing you the best
