My labs

Howdy Y'all.

Okay,I emailed my Np again and she said she didn't receive the hard copies yet of my labs, but she went on line to get the numbers.

This is the labs from first week of March. I started tx in Jan. I don't have my old labs in front of me for exact dates and all that.

But anyhow Heptimax is UND (thank God)
NP said my hemo stayed the same 11.1
white she said went down to 1.9
but she said total neut. is 1300

Then she said "you may have had viral syndrome at the time because your liver enzymes bumped up a bit". Then she asked if I feel okay.

I emailed her back and asked her to let me know what they 'bumped up to' and how often does she see this.

I know some of you guys said enzymes fluctuate during tx, but I never heard any of you guys use term "viral syndrome." Its probably something rare that only I have. I'm special. >hehe <

So the numbers except for the hemo I know nothing about. Any advice or comments?

Thank ya kindly.

Yes.. ast was 36  (3-35)
         alt was 46   (3-40)

I have all my labs in a folder but I can't find the lab prior. I had made extra copies and shredded them cause my PCP had received them. I think I shredded one to many. I can't stand loosing anything but anyhow I remember the one was low 20's and the other was high 20 or maybe low 30?

They have been in normal range for quite a while even before tx.
I don't know this has me concerned cause why is my white's being depleted and my enzymes raised.

I really would like to know if the Hep B vaccine could have bumped up my whites to 9 before tx and then after 2nd shot they dropped to 3 from interferon?

They were never as high as 9 before,,,BUT for that big drop after 2nd shot maybe its good they were that high prior to tx?

Not to disagree at all, but my point was more specfic to the way Quest reports the results and didn't want MO to get confused when she got her report faxed over. On the Quest report, the words "total neutrophils" is followed by "percentage" and then expressed as such. "Absolute Neutrophils" is expressed as the number which in MyOwn's case is "1300". BTW and perhaps at least equally important, did you find out what that "bump" in your liver enzymes were?

Thanks Friole for the congrats and thank you very much for the explanation of the white count. Very helpful.

Yeah the white count though has me a litttle concerned cause prior to tx it had gone up to 9 something if I remember correctly (pretty sure though) and the nurse never mentioned anything.I guess cause it was still in normal range she figured it was okay, but compared to all my other labs that I brought with me, it was high (for me). The white count went down to 3 something after second shot.

I really wonder if it had anything to do with the B vaccine shot I had just before I started tx. I would imagine that any vaccine would have some sort of effect on your white count. I emailed her and asked, but I think she is sulking because she thinks I don't trust her now. I'm tired of dealing with people to tell you the truth.

Thanks for you input.

I haven't read this whole thread yet, but congrats on the UND.  Grand news. Just wanted to say that absolute neutrophils are total neutrophils.   As you look at your lab report, the first series of white blood counts are the percents of each type of white blood cell -- like lymphocytes, neutorphils and the others.  All those percent add up to 100%.  Each type of cell plays a different role.  The next series of numbers for the same types of white blood cells are the actual numbers of each.  The neutrophils are shown, for example, as #NE or ANC.  Your ANC (number of total neutrophils) is pretty high, considering how low your WBC is in total, but I think you are fine, and don't need Neupogen.

You're welcome.

I hope you find a place that does thermographies.

Those mamagraphies sound so barbaric. Sticking your breast in a vice grip until you want to let out a scream or karate kick the nurse.
No thanks I'll pass.

I bet if men had to do that with their peter, the doctors would come up with something better real quick or most men would be like me and just not go.

Thats a fact, it is painful. I am large breasted so to have squeezed like pancakes (for just a minute more) is not fun. ;-)
