My labs

Howdy Y'all.

Okay,I emailed my Np again and she said she didn't receive the hard copies yet of my labs, but she went on line to get the numbers.

This is the labs from first week of March. I started tx in Jan. I don't have my old labs in front of me for exact dates and all that.

But anyhow Heptimax is UND (thank God)
NP said my hemo stayed the same 11.1
white she said went down to 1.9
but she said total neut. is 1300

Then she said "you may have had viral syndrome at the time because your liver enzymes bumped up a bit". Then she asked if I feel okay.

I emailed her back and asked her to let me know what they 'bumped up to' and how often does she see this.

I know some of you guys said enzymes fluctuate during tx, but I never heard any of you guys use term "viral syndrome." Its probably something rare that only I have. I'm special. >hehe <

So the numbers except for the hemo I know nothing about. Any advice or comments?

Thank ya kindly.

Thanks bug,
My mother had what may have been a heart attack a few years ago and they put a stent in her. Thats another whole story. I researched about drug eluding stents after the procedure because of a problem she was having after the procedure and THEN I called the manufacturer (Boston Scientific) and told them that these 'drug eluding stents was a very bad decision for them to make.

It was so obvious to me as a lay person that while their intent may have been to prevent restenosis, problems would surface. Well if you have been following the stent controversy, the medical world is now questioning if they are safe. They are not period!

But anyhow hopefully the stent won't give her anymore problems and other than that, she is in her late 70's and takes NO meds. Her new cardioligist is head of his department at a University hosp and is an expert on holistic med. What a surprise! That is sooooooo rare. So anyhow between my mothers knowlege of complementary med and her doctors, she is now off blood pressure med, and its normal pressure now.She is no longer taking Crestor and her cholestrol is normal and the only thing she takes is asprin, but tons of supplements. The plavix was in the beginning but now has stopped. They tell the stent patients now (since the controversy) to stay on plavix and asprin, but there are risks of brain hemmorage that most people don't know about. So she only takes the asprin. Six months of plavix and then she stopped.

Thanks for your prayers. Greatly appreciate that.

NP said the ANC IS the total neutrophils. So now I am really confused.

She also said that viral symdrome was a viral infection that I had brewing at the time she drew the blood, but yet I showed no symptoms.  I also asked about my B vaccine shot. She had given me my 3rd shot just prior to starting tx. I asked if I was immune. She said I had a low titer and she couldn't remember when she gave the vaccine. I emailed and told her when and also asked if it was possible that the hep B vaccine could appear to look like viral syndrome.

I had noticed on my base labs that my white cell count was high. Still in normal but high normal and it was never like that before. Then after first labs it came down to 3 something if I remember.

I told her I know nothing about how the body perceives a vaccine, but could it be possible that my white cells increased initially from the vaccine and then took a dive as it tried to  fight it.

She hasn't gotten back though yet. I didn't like the 'attitude'  that came through. I will discuss that when I see her.

Amazing that's all I'll say now. I'm not too thrilled with something she said and I will talk to her about how I feel when I see her, especially cause I don't bombard with emails or calls. I waited very patiently and then wanted answers after waiting long enough.

Doncha love it when the NP and Dr act very strangly when you seem to know as much as they do? or more? Your ANC looks good, mine have beem so much lower. As long as you have them watched closely, at least once a week, I think you are OKAY. How long are you going to go? 24 weeks? If so you are so close! With what happened to me, I am much more cautious about going more than necessesay now. With only one week to go i fell apart, that was very rare though. So I would stii say to go the distance if you can, expecially since you are only going 24....YOu are doing well sweetie, and I wish you all the best! I really think you are going to be fine!!

Hi Linda,
I don't know as much or more than them or anything, but sometimes I think we see things that medical people don't always see. Sometimes they are so "book smart" that the obvious gets overlooked or something. But I definitely learned alot here on forum, but I'm still way behind what most of you guys know.

I don't have another appointment until next week , and she didn't mention anything about watching them weekly, tho I would like to.

I do like this NP alot, but many medical people really think that you don't trust them if you question in any way. She made a comment about me questioning her as if I would think that she wouldn't tell me if I had any abnormality. How can emailing her for my labs turn into that? All becasue I had a question about the ANC?

I just did shot 13 Friday so I am close to the finish line. I don't like that my Ast and alt bumped up a tad  AST was 36 (3-35) and ALT was 46 (3-40) The 1st time it was in the 20 or something and the other was 30 or 31, whatever.

But anyhow that's the story.

I'm glad that you are feeling better. When will you get a Heptimax? I hope and pray you are svr.

Let me tell ya, I've never met so many strong people in my life as I have met here on forum. You are all an inspiration to me to.

Thanks again, see ya later!

Forgot to mention your Mom. She is too sweet! Waiting so as not to worry you! Get her into a dr. quick! I hope everything is ok.
Do you take after your Dad? I hope Mom is healthy like you seem to be. (except for the little hep c blip on the health radar)
You are doing amazingly well and past the 1/2 way mark. Hang in there and let me know about your Mom. I'll be praying..

Thanks buggy!

Glad to hear you're doing well also!

Yes I wish everyone would clear. I won't feel I'm out of the woods until the year mark though or as they say "it ain't over until the fat lady sings." I think her song comes at the 2 year mark.

That's good that you got the labs back so quick. Well I heard back from my NP. She's nice but seems insulted that I said I was concerned  that I hadn't heard anything from her.  I shouldn't say 'seems,' she WAS insulted. So I emailed her back blah blah blah. Tried to be nice. I was, but the wimp cells are not harvested yet for sure.

Thats funny what you said that wimp cells would be a sx for the books and I wouldn't be the same. ha!

Yes that sure would be a different Myown. You wouldn't recognize me.

Picking battles, I used to think people were wimpy when they did that, but you're actually smart to do that. Someday I will hopefully be like that. I wouldn't mind that as a post sx. I may need a frontal lobotamy though too. Does BCBS cover that? ha

See ya!
