Acyclovir Side effects?

I was dignosed with HSV2 3 months ago. I had intial classic outbreak that lasted 2 weeks, and then another small one 2  weeks later.  I started suppressive theropy, taking acyclovir (400 mg) twice a day.

My question is: I feel like the virus is under my skin stiil? like a prickling feeling? any ideas if its an allergic reaction? I dont think its prodome symptoms because I havent gotten an outbreak, and its been like 3 to 5 weeks with these symptoms. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I have yet to be diagnosed positive yet.. but the first time I went in for my testing last September...it seemed I had this feeling for months.  I tested for 7 months (through March 2011) and still negative.  Now I feel like I am having an outbreak and will go back next week for testing 1 year post exposure.  I don't know whether I am having really bad ingrown hairs or what...I know something is up, several doctors and experts disagree.  Where are you getting blisters?  I seem to be getting ingrown hair looking bumps in my pubic area in my abdomen...does HSV2 appear here?

I'd go back and be rechecked again for bv since you are still having abnormal sensations. bv can really be weird like that and is more likely the culprit than your herpes.

Wow, thanks for the quick response.

I actually did go back, and I did have a bacterial infection, which i took medication for. But that has been gone for about a month now.

I know this is strange, but it feels like "prodome symptoms", but has lasted consistently for a while now; I haven't found anything in my research that would explain why I would be feeling tingling under my skin for a month straight with no OB?

I'll definitely go see my doctor, but I was just curious if this was ever reported by anyone else or not.

have you been back to be seen at all again?  I am assuming you are female with your nickname you chose so going to be properly testedfor yeast and bacterial infections vaginally is a good idea. bv especially often presents without obvious symptoms, is very common with the first herpes infection and can cause these symptoms as well as cause hsv2 to be more active. Well worth returning for further evaluation.
