Can you get oral herpes from somebody who has genital herpes but NOT oral herpes?

I do not have oral herpes or genital herpes, but my partner has had genital herpes for 27 years and has it under control very well.  Is it possible for me to get oral herpes if I engage in oral sex to my partner who has no genital herpes outbreak?  I am confused.  Thank you so much.

have you ever been tested to know your own herpes status or are you just assuming a lack of symptoms means a lack of infection?

does your partner take daily suppressive therapy?

can you contract hsv2 orally? you can but the risk of such is rather low. if your partner is on daily suppressive therapy it lowers your risk even more. if you perform protected oral sex on him. your risk is zero.

keep asking questions!
