I have had sores in my mouth for 7 weeks, the doctors from a dermatologist, to 5 other doctors to a ears, nose, throat say no. I was cultured three times negative but on antivirals I was given the Igm tests and teh hsv1 was pos and hsv negative. My infection disease doctor said 80 percent of people my age are positive for hsv1 the dermatologist called it apthous stomitis from a positive titer for coxsackie B2and6. This all started 4 days after I was with my new partner. I gave him oral sex but that's it. Our bodies and genitals were closed but never entered. He tested negative with all tests. I have been miserable the last 8 weeks. The sores continue and the doctors say its just a course. they did put me on antivirals for the coxsackie. I am not convinced it is coxsackie and not herpes. I initially ran a temp, and felt just tired and had some abdominal pain. this has been a long haul and I am tired of feeling sick. Any advice?
you've been seen and told multiple times that this isn't herpes going on.
if your partner was tested for herpes and was negative, you know you didn't contract hsv2 orally from performing oral sex on him.
herpes igm tests are greatly flawed and the CDC recommends that they never be used on adults for the purpose of diagnosing herpes. did you also have igg testing done?
it is the time of year that coxsackie virus is very common. In adults, contracting it can really do a number on you and make you feel sick for quite a long time.

they did the IGG tests pos for 1 neg for 2 and did the one where they could tell if it was active both neg but this was weeks after we were together... I has been 8 weeks and yesterday the sores started on the corner of my mouth. I am on antivirals still and I was experiencing much pelvic pain, back pain, and my leg went numb and tingling. My initial outbreak was one week after giving oral with three ulcers on my gums attached to my teeth and since then been here and there and everywhere in my mouth, One day it will be ok, the next it wont and the next half and half. I am scared of having 2 and it was too early for test to show positive. Do people get the extreme pelvic pain, back pain, and those symptoms with outbreaks. My doctors said no. Its more localized to the vaginal tissues. I am 45 and my partner got tested, was frustrated with me, I believe he did but never saw the tests myself and lleft. Could I have contracted coxsackie from him and if I have so many sores in my mouth and say they are herpes, what are the chances I have them genitally, Since 2 does respond to oral much would it be 2 i got from him or 1 and if its one was one on his shaft and I shouldn't worry about two. This is making me crazy.. I now am alone and if i have herpes, I am a well educated person with much respect and how will I find my soulmate.
Can oral herpes continue for eight weeks in my mouth with little relief or is it just one outbreak after another, if it is herpes.
Grace I apologize, I posted another spot without thinking, I will keep everything under this caption. Today I have what looks like tiny pimples on the back of my inner thigh. The past 2 months I have experienced a small rash where my underwear likes between my thigh and vagina off and on. Could this be herpes 2 in my mouth and down below and my partner really never did the herpes test. I believe he did and he said they tested for everything. He has since gone because he was offended after the tests were negative that I may have herpes. I never had anything before this. Today the I feel a couple sores in my mouth again and then they leave and tonight there will be different ones elsewhere. this is almaost 8 weeks of this, can herpes continue for 8 weeks in the mouth with out relief. It's bad enough to have the mouth thing but now the thigh is worrying my, and yesterday i had severe pelvic pain, back pain, and went to the chiropractor. I f this guy gave my herpes and now is gone I will be totally devistated, who will want this. I am a clean very educated person, but I guess I made a huge mistake with this one. and may pay the rest of my life. Please help me to believe it is the coxsackie viurs that they say it is. I am just not convinced. He may not have even had the test for herpes ibut I told him to get everything. I am devistated... I am worrying myself sick. The dermatlogist told me absolutley no, he knew it not to be herpes. help

One more question, my throat has been just sore, voice hoarse and all cultures negative. The ears nose throat doctor said no lesions on throat, is it possible herpes 2 could cause this for 7 weeks my voice has changed and somedays I can hardly talk. It feels like I have slime in my throat and it gets red off and on the past 7 weeks. Do you think this was just a horrible primary herpes infection of 2. I was tested for 2 IGG 2 weeds after could I really have herpes, I have a few red dots on my inner thigh now and have had a breakout of red dots on my stomach and chest last week. and yesterday terrible pelvic and back pain. Do people get terrible groin, pelvic, and back pain with genital herpes. I know I am obsessing, but I am so scared
The guy I was with never showed me the bloodwork but said he was tested for everything.
I also forgot to say I had 4 small dots under my eye the same time the initial breakout of 3 ulcers on the gums of my teeth. Started on the antivirals and they disappearred but all this became of it.. I am scared I have herpes because throughout this I had a dot on my nose and one on my chin which are now gone.. Put my worries to rest please .. thanks... driving myself crazy for sure.

This could be anything. Continue to follow up with your provider. We aren't going to speculate as to what something is what we can tell you is it doesn't sound like herpes.
I went today to get my IGG's redrawn for peace of mind. Before my IGG 1 was postitve and 2 negative. My dot on my nose is there today again and been so tired, continues with off and on loose stools and area around anus very sore.Looked and area is very raw and sore. I thank you for you time and I will see if this is negative and then I will have some peace of mind and really start believing. Any suggestions, they did draw a IGM also which I understand from you is very inconclusive.
So, from reading other's posts, my sore throat of 8 weeks continues on an on and off thing daily. My lips hurt off and on and my mouth is so sore. from other's postings herpes is a diagnosis. I have never had mouth sores before and I never had all these other symptoms. This is two months today and I read one poor guy has had a sore throat like mine for over 2 years There is nothing that makes sense. one week after being with this guy and all this happens. I just can't believe anything else.
would my cultures of an open sore in my mouth for herpes be accurate on antivirals. had three, all negative but on antivirals. today is bad day and getting depressed. sore throat, mouth sores and pain in mouth terrible and no physician will look into it further. tired and just think it has to be herpes. This is ruining my life and my partner said he was tested for everything. he has left and was tired of me thinking it was him. he left so should I ask for the tests results and see.

Had extreme pain around anus today. went to doctor, cultured it and said it didn't look like herpes but was red area with no outline. My anal area hurts alot and burns with my diarrhea. My life is being ruined and my mouth hurt so bad today. Will this culture be accurate, on antiviral yet 800 mg a day. now for two months. Is this herpes 2 infected my mouth and genitally both, I wish that night would never have been if it is. I have lived a nightmare and pray the Lord sends me some peace. I was just doing so well in life.
if you are having diarrhea, that will irritate your delicate anal area. are you using something as simple as a diaper rash ointment on the area to protect and soothe?
don't use that in the genital area unless you are directed to do so by a medical provider for a bacterial skin infection. it can be very irritating to our sensitive genital skin. switch to a diaper rash type ointment like zinc oxide, a&d, desitin, aquaphor etc.
Thank you for your advice. I really don't want to ask one more question about herpes but please and then I won't again unlless I have a positive. The primary symptoms were flu like, Today my bilateral groins are hurting so bad. I have an irritated red spot on my buttock. I will change to desitin and thank you but what if this in my mouth is the primary hsv2 from giving oral. Can you ever kiss someone again and I have read articles on people resistant to acyclvoir. I am still taking the antivirals and today have more sores in the mouth and the back of the throat is raw and hard to talk. Tell me about hsv2 in the mouth, does the throat get this way. I talked to my infection disease lady today and she said if it was herpes, I would be responding to the therapy by now. I was cultured on my sore area on my bottom yesterday, and will this culture be right since I am on antivirals. Did the recheck IGG and will hear back next week. You have been so patient and kind. HSV2 in the mouth just sounds awful.

hsv2 orally doesn't reoccur much on average and only sheds less than a handful of days out of the year on average.

My obgyn today cultured again that red spot near my anus. She said my symptoms are like a primary infection of herpes and since 1 is postitive at 2 weeks. She believes 2 will be positive this time with the IGG She said my pelvic pain and back pain are from after affects from the nerve and I will probably have to be on Neurotin all my life. All cultures have been negative but I believe IGG this time will be postitive. I feel so stupid. This guy is going back for tests, they only did hsv 1 not 2. ?????? What's the point. He said he has never had a sympotiom but at this point I feel alone, sad, and dirty. Can you help me get my spirits back and give hope to a good life. This makes me sick and I am 45 and always a clean person. Thanks
herpes doesn't cause life long neuralgia that would require neurontin all your life. I recommend you get a 2nd opinion.
Waiting for my tests, the infectious disease doctor switched my to Valtrex instead of acyloir, had 3 new sores today again in mouth. What does hsv2 act like in the mouth with a primary infection. Could this be a yeast in my mouth. My tongue has a coating on it. I brush it used nystatin swish and swallow but the back of my throat has a film over it. whitish film with no ulcers. the ears, nose throat doc asks what the film on my tongue was from. Any ideas. If the valtrex didn't work too, it can't be herpes, right, herpes does not last 8 weeks and sores here and there with treatment?
