Confused

Hello,
I'm 17 and even though my results come back tomorrow, my gyno thinks I have the HSV-2 virus.  I am female and this has been confused as both a UTI and yeast infection.  I've never had anything like this before, but I've been having burning urination for the past week.  I'm having a full-blown outbreak with open sores and everything.  My doctor put me on Valacyclovir that I've been taking for 3 days now and I have my period. Is this the worst it's going to get?
Also, what I don't get is that I've been with my boyfriend for 3 months now and now I have a outbreak?  I don't understand.  Is there anything I can do to speed up this recovery?  And how long do the first outbreaks usually take?

I eat those foods every day because they are healthy!! and I have never had an outbreak. I know I have herpes because if a blood test. Isn't it more important to stay healthy and have a strong immune system???

Why are you lying to this person, it's a fact that foods high in arginine will cause the dormant virus to become active, and it will hasten viral replication of an active infection and promote the worsening of the disease. Please no matter what you do, please commit this information to memory and let it sear into your brain. STAY AWAY FROM ALL SEEDS(sunflower, pumpkin, etc), NUTS(cashews, almonds, peanuts, etc), CHOCOLATE, AND GRAINS(oatmean, quinoa, spelt, millet, etc), THIS INCLUDES CORN AS WELL. THESE FOOD ITEMS FEED THE HERPES VIRUS, PERIOD.

lysine actually does little for herpes. it's the antivirals you are taking that are helping more than the lysine dear.

no reason to avoid any foods because of herpes either. the lysine /arginine theory was disproven many years ago and in fact they are actually using arginine to treat herpes in some studies even!

yes, him and i have talked about it.  i really have to say, he's amazing. he said to me, "no matter what it takes, we're stronger than this, we'll fight this, and i'm here for you no matter what." as soon as i get my results, him and i are going together to the doctor.  he wants me there with him, and i want to be there with him.
also, i've been taking 3,000 mg of l-lysine, 1,000 mg throughout the day, and i really think that's been helping.  i've been drinking tea because it keeps me relaxed, and an ice pack has really been helping.  i make sure to take my medicine the doctor gave me twice a day, i've been staying away from the chocolate (and with my period it's pretty hard, but i'm doing it) and eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables.  working out i've had to take a break because it's hard like this, but i'm trying just to get over it. it's been 5 days with my medicine and i'm walking somewhat normally.

thank you so much for listening and constantly responding to me.  this is what i really need and it's helping so much, no one in my family really understands what i'm going through.

even though we usually say keep them dry, putting a layer of desitin or similar product is fine to help reduce friction. also if you don't have lesions in areas where using a tampon would be painful, you can use them instead of a pad too to cut down on rubbing.   soaking in the bathtub with epsom salts is also soothing too.

bf needs tested too - did you mention that to him?

yeah my pain is somewhat under control.  i've been using baby powder with pure cornstarch, vitamin E and aloe for itch, and ice packs for the inflammation.  the period is tearing me apart because the pad is, of course, rubbing up on the sores and just aggravating it more.  i just can't believe i was stupid enough for my boyfriend not to use a condom.  he doesn't know if he has anything because he has no symptoms, and my results keep getting postponed:(.  i honestly hate myself for being so stupid, and i can't stop crying.  i don't know what to do with myself, i've been cringing laying in bed. i never knew this was a skin to skin virus, and i hate myself

the first ob can take a few weeks to fully run its course unfortunately :(  the valtrex will help make that a little shorter.

regardless of the results of your lesion culture, you and your partner should both seek out type specific herpes igg blood testing to see who has what. at your age, odds are this is hsv1 if it's herpes and it's important to know what type you each have.

having your period just makes it even worse :(

the free herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com and the patient counseling video are terrific too if you haven't looked at them yet.

Is your pain under control?

keep asking questions!
