Diagnosed with HSV2 6 years ago and had no reoccurence

Hi there, I was diagnosed with HSV2 6 years ago. I remembered having small blisters on the outer vaginal area after having unprotected sex with an ex colleague of mine. Silly mistake... The doctor whom I saw then had not prescribed any medication

I haven't had another outbreak since. I've had 3 episodes of tingling/itching and discharge and my gynae had diagnosed those as vaginal infections and thrush.

I really don't know how to break the news to my husband. I know that although I've not had any outbreaks I can still risk infecting him.

Pls help!!!

Are you recommending that I get another igg test done to confirm? I've not had any cold sores.

At this point you should pursue proper testing to confirm your status. if your igg blood test for herpes only comes back as hsv1+, no way to know if your hsv1 is oral or genital ( unless you have a history of cold sores prior to your genital symptoms ).  In a case like that, you'd have to wait until you got a recurrence of genital symptoms ( if you ever get one ) and have it cultured and typed.

if your blood test is hsv2+, definitely time to sit down with your husband and talk about this. It won't get any easier the longer you put it off.

a visual diagnosis is wrong 1/3 of the time so following up on this to confirm is the best course of action.

You are selfish. Tell him tomorrow or he will be more pissed about you putting him in that situation. If he leaves you, good! You should have told him before you got married.

Good Luck!
