Did I have herpes before?

Hello all,
A recent unprotected sexual encounter had me going completely nuts.. All the forums said, GET TESTED! Which I did and my results? HSV-1 Positive (1.50). I've had sever flu-like symptoms & dizziness for the last 5 days.

Reading that HSV-1 is very common had me wondering whether I had this before or not. I've had unprotected sex before with an anonymous partner but never got checked. I've had small painful 'zits' appear on my lips before (1 at a time), usually on the crest of my upper lip and the area around my lower lip. Also, my penis has broken out in 'pimples' before (1 at a time) usually halfway up the shaft. This would occur 3-4 times a year randomly. But no flu-like symptoms, dizziness, etc. associated. I suffer from mild facial and body ance and until now, that has always been my assumption.

Do these previous symptoms sound hsv-like?
And, Is it possible to have had HSV-1 before and then get it again.. but worse?

Thank you in advance.

your hsv1 was from before the encounter.  even if you can't recall a history of cold sores, odds are your hsv1 is oral. most folks who have it orally, don't get obvious cold sores to know it.

you tested far too early.  you need to wait and retest for hsv2 3 months post encounter.  you also need to repeat all your std testing in general - it was all done too early.
