Why does it hurt so bad?

I was diagnosed with herpes-2 in the end of May. The outbreak cleared up within a few weeks and ever since then I have been experiencing odd changes in my body.

I have been getting shooting pains through my legs that makes them shoot out and tingle for a few seconds that happens a few dozen times a day. It seems to occur the most when I am sitting or if I bend over. This has been extremely uncomfortable and awkward in my personal life and at work. It has often gotten so bad that it is a constant throbbing burning and aching feeling where I have a hard time walking and putting pressure on my legs. The only relief when it is at its worse, is pain killers and sitting in a hottub. My doctor said that it was probably just because of the outbreak that I was having pains. Even now, I dont have any lesions or anything, and it is still occuring. I have also lost quite a bit of weight in the last month or so. I have lost 15 pounds without changing my diet or exercise habits. I love the fact that I am losing weight, but not knowing how I am losing it causes some concerns. I also get extreme diarreah where it is just liquid. This can last from a few hours to a couple days.

I dont know if any of these are connected, or if there is anything I should be doing to try and fix all of this. Hopefully someone will have advice or some kind of test I can specifically ask my doctor to run. The doctors seem to overlook these symptoms and disreguard my concern no matter what I tell them. Someone please help me! :)

Stop reading and scaring yourself half to death - follow up with a neurologist. Don't even initially say you were recently diagnosed with herpes, just go in and talk about your pains.

I treated my outbreak with Valtrex for 2 weeks and everything cleared up just fine. The leg pains were excrutiating throughout the entire breakout and now that its gone I just get the shooting pains.

I read online something about the herpes could have formed a lesion on a nerve in my spine... I dont know if anyone knows anything about this, but it scared me a lot.

At this point your initial herpes ob has run its course.  are you treating it with anything?  Are you on suppressive therapy?

I recommend considering your back/leg issues to be separate. It's not unusual for a newly acquired herpes infection to make you more aware of an underlying issue that you didn't even know was going on prior to this.  A neurologist would be a good consult to make sure you don't have any back injuries going on that your herpes has aggravated.

Many things can cause diarrhea - even stress/nerves.  Try increasing your fiber to absorb the excess liquid so you have less of it. Hopefully it settles down as everything else does.

Could this all be herpes related?  It would be a very unusual thing if it was at this point 6 weeks into things.
