As a kid I had constant oral outbreaks. Then from age 17-30 I had zero outbreaks. One year ago, at age 30, I sucked a stripper's breast at a strip club, four days later developed a cold sore on my lip. Three months later I developed another cold sore on my lip.
It has been 10 months since any outbreaks. What I am wondering is two-fold: (i) How likely is it I had HSV-1 as a kid, and contracted HSV-2 from the stripper? (ii) Assuming my body was able to completely suppress HSV-1 to the point where I have had zero outbreaks in 13 years, and I have now had no outbreaks in ten months since being exposed to HSV-2, how likely is it my body will completely suppress these outbreaks to the point where I might not ever have another outbreak?
Or, alternatively, is it possible that I caught HSV-1 again from the stripper, or is it possible that after 13 years of dormancy my HSV-1 came back?
