Genital Herpes

Hello,
Over the past year I have received unprotected blowjobs from two people. One of which was a sex worker.
I was wondering what my risk is for genital herpes and if I should get tested? I  am unaware if I have HSV 1. After the incidents I received no symptoms, however I have read genital herpes can lie dormant. I did not see any sign of herpes on my partner's mouths at the time however I have also read that is not necessary for transmission and the virus can "shed" at any time.
Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

don't be surprised if you come back as hsv1+ - most adults will whether they recall obvious cold sores in the past or not.

you still need periodic testing for herpes even when you always use condoms along with testing for syphilis. unfortunately we don't have commercially available tests for hpv which is your other main risk from protected sex.

No I have not been tested for herpes but I am going for the igg antibody test in two days. It will have been over four months since my last unprotected encounter so it should give me a good indication.
Usually I am safe however on those two occasions I was not. I regret it.

if you had contracted hsv1 genitally from either of these encounters, odds are you would've had very obvious and painful lesions within a few days/weeks of being infected.

have you ever been tested for herpes to know your status?

you should only be giving and receiving protected oral sex to protect yourself from std's too!
