Like a lot of people here, it sounds like Balanitis. Terrible trrrible situation. I’m a type 1 diabetic and I hear that can make me more likely to get it. I dated this girl for several years and though I’m not 100% that she was being completely honest, I don’t think stds were involved. Actually, the 1st time it happened was when I was about 19. I took some Vicodin and felt like I had an allergic reaction. Except the itching became sores on my mouth and penis. I figured I MUST have had herpes. But I hadn’t had unprotected sex. Once - ONCE - I got a blowjob and in retrospect, the girl may have had some issues with cold sores. So again I thought, “wow. My 1st blowjob and I’m already infected.” It was very dispiriting. And of course I didn’t have health insurance, so unless there was an outbreak any doctor I could see wouldn’t be able to do anything. Finally, I got to see a doc during an outbreak and she said, “oh yeah that’s herpes” and swabbed and tested me. Came back negative. I’ve been tested several times now and it’s always negative. But then I found out I was diabetic and also began having unprotected sex with that girl I mentioned at the beginning (since after years of negative std tests, I thought I was in the clear). And after that, it began to happen again. I’d feel the itch on the side of my mouth and the tip and sides of my penis. Sometimes it would cycle through without becoming sores. But I could never figure out what triggered it or made it go away.
In all honesty I’m still not confident I can say it is definilty positively balanitis. But it’s been several years now since it’s appeared. I eat as well as I can, exercise regularly and generally try not to drink or do drugs too much and boring as that sounds, I feel better than ever and it hasn’t returned.
I have the same thing, has anyone found out what it is? I take olive leaf extract liquid and probiotic tablet every day and changed my diet. It ease the burning but doesn't fix it completely. Someone help please
Can understand I was recently tested for hsv 2 and my igm results 1.07 and my igg negative. I gyne said I have aslight yeast iinfection cause I have burning in the vagina and slight itching even when I pee it burns. I have not had a good nights sleep when I found out about it.
Anyone found the problem yet?
Curious how you're doing now. I had a very similar situation but unfortunately they don't even test for HSV anymore so I'm stuck going 0ff internet threads and whatever i can get a doctor to give me.
I was prescribed an anti fungal which worked for a bit but then the pain didnt entirely go away so I got a second opinion and was prescribed an antibiotic steroid cream which worked then started burning. I read online that these creams can cause the skin to dry out. I started hot salt baths instead which seem to help alot but skip a day and things come back.
Its been 2 months and I've never had a typical outbreak but I did start getting "swamp crotch" and so I've been applying baby powder to my entire nether region which helps keep things dry. Strangely I have been waking up with no pain but once I sit up it seems to set in.
I have also been trying to quit smoking again so that may be helping. On top of this I am trying to start jogging again as I found that stretching the groin seems to help.
Either way I am very interested to know if you found anything yet that works to completely erase this as I have never experienced anything as prolonged as this before. And I can't help feel it was definitely the oral sex that at least aggrevated it and my medical system will do nothing to at alleviate or confirm my fears.
bro thats yeast infection or called balanitis
Dude i have the same problem as you... Same exactly as you described thought im going insane.... DId you beat it? Prostatitis?
Please start a new thread with you questions and concerns. What you describe is not how hsv acts at all.
Im 15 , and on christmas brake of 12/22/15 ive had a burning around my uncircumcised penis and i had unprotective sex with 2 females and both were tested negative for everything, i waited a few more days because i thought it was nothing so everyday it would burn until one day i woke up and i felt shaky and felt like everything was unreal until i went home and went to the er and they said it was a urinary in fection so they gave antibiotics so i took them and now soemtime i feel pain in my lower stomach and urethra tube to my testiclesand it stressed me out to the point i got stressed bumps but also i went to my regular doctor and he took a blood work test for everything and 90% of it came back negative and my urine test was all negative to so now i have like red bumps on my penis til and on my forskin i had cuts around it but it healed and now it looks like these painless red patches nothing burns or itch i just feel discomfort and its scarying me i havent had discharhe just my foreskin is a little tight its better than the last time i had a urinary i fection im afraid it cant possibly be herpes im not sure it is i just wanna know if im alright because im scared im 15 and i cant really keeo going to the ER
That is incorrect. I have had both chicken pox and shingles and I am negative for HSV1. Cold sores on lips, yes, that is typically HSV1 and typically acquired in adolescent life.
By the way. I think and correct me if I'm wrong....if you've had chicken pocks, shingles or cold soars as a kid that is HSV1 and it in your system. I had cold soars and chicken pocks as a kid and I had shingles in 2004/5.
I will have to get that additional test that differentiates between the two but first I will get these little lesions swabbed.
Cheers guys
I am really intrigued with this conversation and your plight. Many years ago I was going through this and I did not no what I had. I did the Floxin, I did everything I could to make a long story short. Sufficient to say I had all the symptoms and fears you had.
Then during yet another search for answers I came across a book. Just reading the write up about the Book "Headache in the pelvis" I started feeling better in my pelvic area in general. Needless to say I bought the book and as I read, the pain and all the symptoms that made me feel like I had herpes or prostate cancer or "non specific prostatitus" (as the doctor coined it for lack of a better set of words) melted away, the guessing game stopped for like twenty years....
until just now.
That is what brought me here today. And I am very grateful that I tuned in because you just reminded me of those days many years ago (1995ish).
Every paragraph took me back.
You see...I recently found a new sex partner after abstaining from sex for about three and a half years. My abstention was dew to the fact that this crazy girl I was messing around with for a short time and behind my girlfriends back told me that I gave her herpes. But it just didn't make sense for a lot of reasons, but primarily the crazy chick wasn't the only one, there was one other and neither girl had any herpes symptoms.
We checked right away. I did however or rather I tested positive for HSV but 1 or 2, I don't know. I lost contact with all involved and I stopped having sex at that time. I was just not sure if I had herpes or not and I took it as a wake up call to changed my life style regardless.
But I didn't get stressed. There was never any symptoms before the incident or for the three and a half years after....until today and let me tell you it is a very stressful time in my life.
I figure I've been running at my maximum stress level life and work wise. I have a couple of women chasing me and one that I like and that really wants me to give in but I haven't felt emotionally available or sexually interested. Then this 30 year old cutie bounces into my life and I'm off to the races.
At least I thought I was ready.
Can you believe I started to use a condom and she told me that she was allergic to latex. So being the selfish/stupid guy I still appear to be I throw caution to the wind and went bare back.
Two or three days later I think I do have herpes. Now one week in I got a red spot or two, that wet feeling with no discharge, a little heat and discomfort, I'm feeling ill abdomen wise and I am thinking "now you show up" WTF. Right?
Now, all those symptoms from 20 years ago are starting to come back.
But you no what I am also experiencing is the highest stress level I have experienced for about...you guessed it...twenty years.
The added emotional stress dumped on top of my stressful life style has brought back all my symptoms.
Last time this stuff happened down there I discovered the book. The book describes an intricate network of muscles that operate your pelvic region from the pelvic floor. These pelvic muscles operate your penis, testicles, bladder...it can affect your abdomen, your rectum and all the above mentioned pelvic area organs.
The book suggested that I clench my fist and hold it for 30 seconds and then release and open your hand. Notice how stiff and hard to open it is. Now try it for 1 whole minute. More stiff right?
Well, as the book described it, imagine holding that fist clenched for say 5 years. Your wrists and arms probably wouldn't work that well and likely your shoulders and neck wouldn't either. That translates directly to the pelvic floor and that is what emotional stress does. It tightens the pelvic floor to such an extent that you get adverse effect in those areas attached.
It hurts cause its clenched and its gonna cause problems in every part of your body that it controls.
I'm gonna dig out that book.
Hope your all still tuned in. You've been looking for a long time.
try the book "Headache in the Pelvis". Bazaar name for a condition that will blow your mind
Hi man,
I wonder if you have it treated and now cured. I have had the exact same problem as you did and I am so worried and scared that I can't face my family. I am waiting on my blood test and now I am 7 weeks after unprotected oral sex.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you.
Yo fellas, it is balanitis. And you don't need to cut your joint off... it's from a yeast build up called candida. Get some unrefined cold pressed coconut oil. Put it on, keep it on. The problem however is under the skin. So when you can, when the skin starts to return to normal usually within a few days, you got to rub it out. I. E it's like rubbing sand out after going to the beach. Or splinters. The issue is malezzia yeast the size of little mustard seeds, that is hardening with the skins layers
. U have to also put the oil on the scrotum, and follow back to your buttocks and thighs. It basically likes to bury or entrench itself in the soft tissue areas of muscle and that's why one may feel tightening in the muscles and joints. Imagine a pin and a pin cushion. The pin is stuck in the cushion right, it compresses the area, and cuts off any flexibility, blood movement, etc. Now imagine a bunch of pins stuck in a row. Or many rows or "tracks." .
it's sowing or stitching itself in.
I use Dr. Bonners liquid soap and added hydrochloric acid to the soap. Like the stuff you put on a cut. But It won't burn don't worry. And I add Epson salt to the washing rag and scrub the whole body. It's not just on your penis unfortunately. It's in your hands and probably in other areas like your face, nise chin, hands and feet like athletes foot but as a fungus lotrimin won't kill it. . It could have been there chilling, acting like acne for years.
Also you have to change your diet man. stop eating breads, pastas, cow milk, beer, sodas, or anything that will convert to sugar. This is most definitely the devil in disguise. Also get into a sauna if you have access. Use the oil while in the sauna. Just put a light coat on your whole body.
I have been on the case. I almost bugged out over these last two years. Dermatologist docs don't know ****.
One love,
Nat

Anyone else have any input?
I'm a very healthy, fit, active, outgoing, normal person but I'm sure if you read my posts I seem like a crazy person. Haha. I don't know if this one bad decision I made a year ago having unprotected oral sex has caused me to get an STD or if it caused me to get anxiety-related issues that I just can't shake...followed by coincidental fungal issues related to being uncircumcised.
In summary, I've had the following:
1 IGG blood test that came up POSITIVE for HSV1
2 NEGATIVE swabs for HSV1 and HSV2 in the genital area on new red bumps/sores
1 POSITIVE swab for HSV1 on my right finger
1 urologist who diagnosed me with Prostatitis. This was 2 months after the incident when no bumps had yet appeared (besides super small bumps I've gotten my whole life due to being uncircumcised)
1 dermatologist tell me everything that he sees during 2 separate visits looks like a fungal infection (4 months after incident)
1 dermatologist tell me everything she sees during 3 separate visits looks like a fungal infection, including a negative swab for genital herpes and a positive swab on my finger for HSV1. (5-8 months after incident)
1 urologist tell me everything he sees looks like a persistent fungal infection and he suggests circumcision (something I am still debating...my father had one done when he was around my age due to red/painful foreskin).
Any input would be helpful from anyone with any knowledge or experience with these issues. Thanks!
Looks like Grace isn't on here as much as she used to be so my post is open for any and all others to comment on as well :)
Hi Grace,
Coming back on here to give you an update on everything. I still am not sure what's going on with me! Since my last update, I went to see a dermatologist 2 or 3 times who examined me and said this was just a fungal infection. I wasn't too confident in his evaluations, so I went to another dermatologist. She did a swab of the red spots that I get on and off and it was NEGATIVE. I again wasn't too confident with her examination (since it seems like a lot of doctors don't really know too much about herpes besides the classic first outbreak), but I took her word for it and continued on. Then about two months after that in early November 2013, I got VERY painful and persistent blisters on my right pointer finger underneath my nail. She swabbed those and they came back POSITIVE for HSV1. So far, nothing has come back on my finger. One thing that I learned from this was that this pain was 10x as bad as anything I've gotten in my genital area. That pain is fairly consistent but nowhere near as painful as on the finger. The doctor told me that what happened on my finger is completely unrelated to what's happening in my genital area, but could I have somewhere given this to myself? I don't think I ever touch my penis with the back of my finger.
Regarding my problems in the genital area, I still am getting fairly persistent red bumps all over my foreskin and sometimes on the head of my penis. Sometimes when I get them, I have pain with them that comes and goes off and on throughout the day, but they NOT painful to touch. The pain seems to be more inside my penis than topical but is definitely more prevalent when I have those red bumps. I went to a urologist in late January and showed him the bumps and explained my whole story and he dismissed genital herpes regardless of my HSV1 positive status. He suggested circumcision since I am uncircumcised and I am still deciding if I should go through with this (my father had an adult circumcision at about the same age I am now).
I had a very bad outbreak of whatever this is in early February that spread all over my foreskin over a week or so (which came at a stressful time at work). Whenever I get these, I put a prescription antifungal cream on it (Econozole Nitrate) and it typically clears it up pretty quickly and then I stop using it. They never scab at all....at most, they might leave a flake of skin and a little red mark. As an experiment, I continued to apply it EVERY day for over a month and I never got any red bumps. I stopped using it and about a day later, I got a red bump on my foreskin, which has then spread to another area, then another, and has continued as a pretty consistent outbreak until even today! I just started using the antifungal cream again about a week ago and it had pretty much subsided. Then I stopped using it one day this weekend and the next day, I got another red bump on my foreskin on the underside of my penis! Can an antifungal cream prevent herpes breakouts by drying out the foreskin?
As you've read, I've had multiple doctors tell me I don't have genital herpes, including 2 negative swabs. I would be fine with living with whatever this is with no answers, but my fear is in infecting someone else. I just started dating a girl and she gave me unprotected oral sex on Saturday night (the night before I woke up with a red bump!). So I am now freaking out about having possibly infecting her with a cold sore if this is genital HSV1. You can give someone herpes on the lip from oral sex, right? I'm sorry this is so long but I just want to get all the facts out there and hopefully find some answers since this has been going on for over a year now.
Thanks in advance!
Exact same thing happened to me, I'm 18 cheated on my misses and had unprotected sex, I regret it so much, I've been freaking out about herpies, I got a small red lump shown after a few days and it hasn't gone away since and it's been like a week, my doctor said it doesn't look like herpes but still I'm worried, let me know how it goes for you
The exact same thing is happening to me but I'm 18, would like to here the end result cause I'm freaking out
Thanks for the info. I will look into that.
It is probably worth following up with a WB to confirm your HSV-1 status, but that still won't tell you the location of the infection. It's possible that your first test simply missed it (as it does 1 / 10 times) and that it is a long-established oral infection.
I had a Western Blot done at the Quest Diagnostics lab on W 86th street, but I had to become a phone patient of Terri Warren's to have it ordered. Make an appointment with her through the Westover Heights Clinic (Google it).
Hi Grace,
I was just wondering if you could please answer my question regarding the possibility of a false positive and if/when I can take the Western Blot to know for sure.
Thanks in advance!
