Herpes HSV 1 genital
I have diagnosed having Genital HSV 1 - 5.5 months ago.
2 weeks ago I have a few red dots and a big red dot (about 1cm diameter) at my elbow. The elbow was swollen. There are white liquid came out from the big red dot and small red dots. I have seen a doctor, he has given me an injection and told me that it is normal skin infection.
Now the swollen has subsided, the wound is slowly recovered.
The question is are all these red dots with swollen elbow are herpes? Can white liquid with some blood came out if those red dots are herpes?

not everything going on is due to hsv1. Hsv1 genitally for most folks hardly ever reoccurs. Having it reoccur on multiple body parts would be incredibly unusual. Stop thinking herpes all the time!

I have few questions regarding GHSV 1:
(a) Is the virus GHSV 1 is present in the semen or skin?
(b) Recently I have a bad headache, heavy flu and just recovered from sore throat. Are all these related to GHSV 1 recurrence? Please note that I have not discovered any lesion / sore around my genital area.
(c) A red spot appeared on the backside of my palm, I used finger nail to scratch it and now the skin became dark and shiny colour, it cant go back to the original skin texture after many months. Is this related to any std or GHSV 1?
(d) Tested negative for VDRL after 2 months from the exposure, is it conclusive?

I have seen some threads talking about the recurrence can be anywhere around the boxer area.
I believe most of the initial episode is somewhere at the penis. How can the recurrence goes to anywhere around the boxer area?

The duke research is no where near being even ready to test on humans let alone being able to be called a cure. It'll be much more time yet before we can even see if it is worthwhile even testing in humans.

The last NHANES study showed hsv1 at 56% in adults in the US but doesn't differentiate between oral or genital. It's hard to come up with sound numbers for hsv1 genitally alone because still unfortunately not all providers are doing lesion cultures and typing on presumed genital herpes symptoms, if they even recognize them as being herpes potentially. Since it doesn't shed much or reoccur much, putting a good solid number on hsv1 genitally is almost impossible. In one study done on a college campus, it was the cause of 78% of all newly acquired genital herpes infections.

is that an actual fact that genital hsv-1 only reoccurs in about half of those it infects and also that outbreaks will only come once a year and then every other year thereafter on average? if this is true then i would imagine that there are tons of people who are infected with this virus, even more than what is assumed because a large percentage of the population has hsv-1 orally and shows no sign... and honestly i've never heard of anyone i know using a condom during oral sex.. so that would mean it is being passed from oral to genital at a pretty high rate and it would seem that pretty soon everyone will have it...

There is no predicting what a partner's initial episode would be like. It has nothing to do with the particular strain of herpes, it has to do with how their body acts when infected.

No, I don't think your red dots have anything to do with herpes. Hsv1 genitally hardly ever reoccurs.

I have no idea what these red dots are. You need to follow up with your doctor or a dermatologist to figure that out.

hsv1 genital recurrences appear the exact same way as hsv2 does. they aren't different looking.
just red dots do not sound like herpes.

Just want to recongise what is the symptoms of herpes recurrence.
On and off, it happens that there are 1 - 2 red dots appeared on my tighs, waist, buttock and those red dots disappeared very fast, maybe 3-4 days. I dont feel pain / itchy at all of having those red dots. Are those red dots herpes recurrence?
I just want to recongise the symptom even is a slight symptom to prevent any virus transmission to my love ones. I know HSV 1 genital is very mild and approx. 90% of HSV 1 genital carriers will not have recurrence, but I still have the social responsibility of not to infect anyone.

Whenever there is a red dot on my thigh, buttock, waist, I think of those might be herpes.
I am afraid the virus will pass to my family member when I hug them as I understand that herpes will transmit as long as there is a skin to skin contact.
Really dont know I can live with Herpes or not. I think my life is going to collaspe.

People fear what they do not understand. Unfortunately our health classes and sex ed classes don't do a very good job at teaching us about herpes. our parents also usually do not understand it to give us the info we need at home either :( Once you learn some basic facts about herpes you really do have to wonder what the fuss is all about!!!

Hsv1 genitally tends not to reoccur. for about 1/2 of folks who have it, they never get another recognizeable ob. Of those who do, the average is 1 additional ob the first year and then 1 ob every other year. Only a small percentage of folks get hsv1 genital recurrences more often.
Ob's can be anywhere in the entire boxer short area. Most folks will get ob's around the same general area but since you shed from the anogenital area when the virus is active, the location of the actual lesions doesn't really matter all that much in the genital area. Many folks do get ob's in multiple locations in the boxer short area - it's not all around the same general area.
