Herpes Testing accurate?

Hi,

I've had IgG tests for HSV 1 and 2 at 7.5 weeks, 11.5 weeks 15.5 and 16.5 weeks all negative.  This is in response to some genital pain, irriration that has been persistent for 4 months now, and a dermatologist and 2 urologists can't figure it out.---I did have one say there was a few "lesions", however, he was referring to a few little bumps (think they are just like skin tags), I've had my whole life even before becoming sexually active.

Is there any reason to think the testing wouldn't be accurate.  I've had no classic signs of it, from all I've read about it, just get irritated skin from time to time that becomes a little red, its been constant for 4 months though.  No blisters, etc........

The 7.5 and 16.5 week tests were Captia and the 11.5 and 15.5 were Herpeselect.  I've had a clean slate on all other STD tests, so not sure where to go from here.  Doctors have given me steriod creams, antibiotic creams, but nothing has seemed to help.

My real question is the reliability of my testing...........I know there may be a small number of people that never test positive, but I'm thinking with the combination of really no actual Herpes symptoms, the chances of myself being one of those would be small.

Thanks

Has the person that you were active with been tested? I'm thinking that maybe that clarity would give you a little more peace of mind.

That being said, trust the tests!

your symptoms don't sound at all like herpes symptoms. there would be clear periods of no symptoms at all if this was herpes related. you really have no reason at all to doubt your continued negative herpes testing.

If all of your igg tests were in a negative range, you do not have herpes.  I do not know would your symptoms could be related too but it's entirely possible you're freaking yourself out to the point of your genitals being irritated.  I would trust in your tests though.

I hope you find answers to your symptoms dude.
