Herpes and Eczema- A Question?
Hello...
I am a male with type II Herpes and I am currently taking Valtrex daily...
My question is this... My GF has eczema on her hands and at times it can be a bit
severe. Is there a increased risk of me perhaps passing herpes to her because of her
skin condition on her hands?
Does this frequently happen? odds of it happening?
We have been dating for about a month.... and during this time I have suffered no breakouts,
in fact I have not had a known breakout in over a year... however I am still worried about
passing this to her.
I am aware that herpes can be spread during intercourse.... and we take precautions to help prevent the spread along with the daily use of Valtrex on my part.... I understand the shedding aspect and do keep track of my breakouts (my last being nearly a year and half ago)...
My fear is spreading from my genital area to my GF's hands.... causing lesions etc that would be visible on her hands.... She understands all of the aspects and risks of herpes... I would just feel horrible if I spread it to her hands... because of the compromised skin of her hands due to eczema
If this makes any sense at all.... A doctor's opinion on this would be GREATLY appreciated.

She got the eczema after childbirth and it is mainly centered on her hands... although she does a have few small patches on her legs. As far as the "type" of eczema we are not sure... she does have to be extremely careful with cleaning chemicals, and certain shampoos, etc with frangrances etc as these really will inflame her hands....
She typical wears non latex gloves when cleaning etc...

When your gf's eczema is flared up, she should avoid touching your genital area just to err on the side of caution. I'm assuming it's a dishrodic eczema issue due to it's location - does she treat it?
