Herpes and equivocal results: Help!

Hello,

I had a short protected (condom) vaginal intercourse with an escort for 1-2 minutes on 10/22.

For peace of mind, I completed an STD panel on day 12 post exposure (early for HSV 2).

Here are the results for IGG test:

HSV 2 was .92 equivocal.Day 12 post exposure:

DAY 14:  The ESCORT took the same test for HSV 2 and her test was negative.

HSV 2 was 1.05 equivocal.  Day 22 post exposure.

I have no symptoms as of day 26.  I visited an infectious disease doctor.  The doctor said that the results are inconclusive and early.  The doctor physically checked me.  He said most probably I don't have HSV 2.

Here's are my questions:

1)  What are the chances of contacting HSV 2  during a protected short encounter?

2)  Is it possible that the escort tested negative at day 14 and I test equivocal at day 12?

3)  What is equivocal?  Please help.  I read it could be early infection or inconclusive?  Please share you experience.

4)  Am I doomed that my HSV 2 igg results keep climbing ?

5)  Should not I get some symptoms of infection by now?  If stress triggered an outbreak, I been stressed for the past 26 days.  Please help and share you experience and knowledge.

Thank You.

No symptoms is a good sign but your exposure was close to zero risk if you dont shave down there. The risk exists when she has vaginal sores at the time. You anxiety is adding to fueling your concern. People can have unprotected intercouse with existing genital sores many time and still not contract herpes. Its just not the easy.

HI GDHerpesHelp,

thank you for your response.

Two items you mentioned poked my interest.

My HSV 1 was negative post 12 days <.91.  NO number assigned to it.  I did not repeat HSV1 post day 22.  Does it mean anything?

Please try to answer/clarify this question if you can:

If I was indeed infected with HSV 2 in this encounter then I should have some lesions, itching, burning etc. with 20 days? I do not have any symptoms.
Do all people have lesions and/or burning itching from a first infection?  I mean all.  I don't have anything.  I been checking myself several times a day.

Please if you or life360 can shed some lights on this issue.

This is really stressful.  Let alone, my wife and I trying to conceive via IVF after 10 years of trying. I already came clean with my wife.

Thank you.

Hi Grace,

this is day 48 post exposure.  I haven't had any symptoms/sores/lesions/flu like symptoms or anything else.

If I was exposed to HSV 2, shouldn't I have I have some indications by now?  Could be that some people don't have any symptoms from an initial exposure or everyone will have some type of symptoms.

Please help

The risk you contacted herpes from a one time protected affair where she did not have any vaginal sores would be close to zero. Your really being overly concerned about this.
