Herpes or being paranoid?

First I should start off by saying that I have never had oral herpes for any reason, sexual or even just HSV-1 outbreaks as a child. I have only ever performed unprotected oral multiple times on people I've known to never have cold sores on their mouths. I have performed very brief unprotected oral on maybe 3 people I did not know very well.

Once again, I have never had an outbreak on my vagina or mouth.

A couple days ago, I noticed a weird sensation under my tongue, on the little string thingy that connects your tongue to the bottom of your mouth. I think it's called a frenulum. I have these two bumps on the side of it, and it's a little red and swollen and raw. I can't tell what they are. The bumps are isolated and almost appear to be skin tags? as they are not on top of the skin, but almost appear to be tiny growths? But this could also be because I scrubbed the skin very hard with an electric toothbrush when I first saw it. They haven't gotten worse or spread. And it doesn't hurt or itch more than a canker sore would.

Most normal people would probably dismiss this as a burn or a couple or canker sores, but I have a bit of a problem with hypochondria.

From what I've read, herpes only appears in isolated places inside the mouth as a recurrent outbreak. I've never had anything that would even be suspicious as herpes on the outside of my mouth. I did drink hot coffee the night before the problem showed up. I've had them for two days now and they've gotten better, not worse. They haven't broken out into sores or anything...does it sound like anything to worry about. My mom insists that it's normal and that I'm just being paranoid. But I can't get it out of my head.

:-) I am glad it was great.  HSV doesn't have to have a stigma if you don't let it.

If anyone is in the same position, I thought I'd post what happened. Turns out, what was wrong was a yeast infection in my mouth. I was skeptical at first but I asked them to do a swab and look under the microscope and that confirmed what the doctor thought. The yeast infection caused the bumps and the bubble things on either side of my frenulum. I guess the things on my frenulum were infected mucus glands, which were irritated by the yeast infection. Thank goodness!

HSV 1 isn't bad though is it? Since most people have it, or are born with it. It doesn't have the stigma that comes with HSV 2 right?

When someone has symptoms we tell them to be seen.  In your case be seen for a proper work up.  This could be anything though I doubt it is herpes.  There are many people who will test positive on HSV-1 igg tests and can never recall a cold sore.  So you can't go based off not having a test.

Sorry, trying to be patient.

The more I look at them, I notice that they are symmetrical and look less like blisters and more like skin tags or swollen glands. But I don't know if there are glands at the bottom of the frenulum? Still concerned it's herpes, though...
