Herpes- related pain?

Hello everyone!

I am very curious about a particular form of pain I have and whether it might be herpes-related.  It began about six years ago.  I have never had any traditional herpes symptoms - i.e. cuts or blisters, but occasionally I get 'flashes' of pain in different areas of my vulva.  These last for about a second, but happen quite randomly (i.e.may happen on random days for one to two months).  I have recently been diagnosed with chronic thrush and have vulvodynia caused by this - but this pain began long before I had the thrush!  The reason I wonder if it is herpes is that I believe a boyfriend once performed oral sex on me with a cold sore.  I have asked doctors about this and they seem reluctant to peg it on herpes!

I think it's all related to your vulvadynia.

This doesn't sound anything at all like genital herpes.
