Herpes result make me confuse

My STD result as per below:-

1) Herpes Simplex Type 1 IGG (gG) = 2894 units/ml
2) Herpes Simplex Type 2 IGG (gG) = 108 units/ml

Interpretation (units/ml)
Negative  400

From my understanding i have herpes type 1 and not type 2. But what make me confused is that my doctor told me that my herpes is not caused by STD but by hygiene problem. From what i read so far, herpes is  1 type of STD. Is it true that it can caused by other things such as hygiene problem? I'm confused.. Please help...

1 more Q's. Can i have oral sex or kiss my partner when i'm not on outbreak eg. have cold sore. Can it be transferred to my partner?  Please help..

p/s :- sorry b'coz my english is not good.

yes, infants and  young children don't have a mature immune system and they are more easily infected by social type kisses and things like adults "cleaning" their pacifiers by putting them in their mouths as well as potentially by sharing drinks.   Don't go overboard with precautions for young children - just use some common sense.  the link I gave you previously I think does a good job at that.   Affection is very important to young children and you are not a walking biohazard shedding the virus 24/7/365.

takes the heat and friction of romantic type kisses for adults to contract the virus orally.

Thanks grace..

So you're saying:-

1) adults - transmitted only through romantic type kisses & sex but not by sharing food, drinks and etc.
2) infant & toddlers - easily transmitted. so i must avoid sharing food & drinks. Must also avoid kissing them or get kiss from them.  Am i right?

as adults, oral herpes is almost exclusively transmitted through romantic type kisses. Infants and toddlers can potentially contract hsv1 orally through sharing food, drinks etc but adults don't contract it that way.

herpes is not blood borne so an open wound isn't an issue.

May i know whether herpes can be spread by the following since from my reading answer i get is contradict between each other.

1) Transmitted by sharing glasses/ bottled water or other things - some said it can't be transmitted through saliva but some said it can once you are on outbreak.. there is no way to know the virus is active if it is without symptom.
2) Kissing others on cheeks/hand or got kiss by them especially when you're/they're sweating..
3) Open wound touch by/touch others.. can it be transmitted by that wound (not cold sore)

The reason i want to know because i don't want to spread it to others especially my family and friends.... Please help..

you have had cold sores before so you know your hsv1 is oral. no reason to think it's genital.  cold sores in the nose are actually pretty common too.

http://www.ashastd.org/herpes/herpes_learn_oralherpes.cfm  has terrific info on oral herpes for more reading.   Have you had obvious cold sores before?

correct, taking medication to try to lower your igg is wasting your time and money. You will still be infected no matter what and the numeric results of your testing aren't any indication of how active the virus is.

do you have a regular partner? If so, have they been tested to know their own status?

Thanks Grace,

Since you said changes in result are meaningless then i believed i'm wasting my money to buy medicine just to lower down my IGG result.

So what are you suggesting? Do i need to keep taking medicine or just take it when outbreak occur? The medicine is quite expensive too..

you are having testing done that we can't really comment on here. I myself am not familiar with the testing you are having done to know the likelihood of a false negative/false positive from and I know of no one else here on the P2P forum who can either.

the changes in igg results are meaningless though overall. It means nothing about the activeness of your infection or anything like that.

I have herpes type 1.. In My country if your result show more than 400units/ml that's mean you're positive for herpes... My first test which i took in 2009 shows I'm at 4625units/ml which is more than 13 times than 400units/ml. Then i took medicine as prescribed by doctor. In May 2011 my result show i'm at 2894units/ml. That's show decreasing in my result.. I stopped taking my medicine since then and got tested last week. Now i'm at 3414units/ml and it is increasing again..
My question is -
1 - Is it matter where your result at (4625units/ml to 2894units/ml then 3414units/ml)?
2 - By having lower count does it mean you're better than when you're on high count?
3 - Do i need to keep take medicine even when i'm not on outbreak? I forgot the last time i've got my last outbreak. I took that medicine purely just to lower down my count..  Is it bad to have high count on your result. I believe my count will keep going up and afraid at some level it may affecting my health. Is it?

Kindly please help...

If these products worked a lot more people here would be telling everyone who thought they had herpes to get that stuff and the owner of this stuff would be a billionaire overnight.  So no it doesn't work.

Thankfully you are asking here because you are mistaken.  HSV-1 is not HSV-2.  They are two seperate viruses completely (about 50% or so is the same DNA but they are different viruses hence the type and one can't become the other.).

HSV-1 is the only risk your partner is at if they have been tested to know their own HSV status which has come back negative.  You can perform oral sex on your partner if they don't have HSV-1 already you can infect their genital location with HSV-1 although a low risk activity if you avoid sexual contact anytime you have a cold sore.

Their is no risk to any other STD's which you both have been tested and are negative on.  Not ridiculous but something to know and rather you ask the question then guess and not know.

If I'm not mistaken, I read somewhere that HSV1 can turn into HSV2. My partner is free from STD and from now on we only have sex with each other, can my HSV1 develop to HSV2? Can i get infected by any other STD out off nowhere just by having sex with my partner? I know my question is ridiculous but I just want to make sure that we are not in the risk of  getting any other STD just because of HSV1 virus. 1 virus is more than enough since this one I'll carry it for my whole life.

Thanks for your info Mistakeguy789.

We can't read your results sadly.  The thing is that we don't have any direct knowledge on the test you have.  Type 1 is not a STD most times as it is oral HSV which isn't from a sexual encounter but can be.  This point you need to talk more to your doctor about the test. It has nothing to do with bad hygine.  It is from having direct skin to skin contact with someone who has HSV-1.

Yes you can perform oral sex and kiss your partner when you do not have an outbreak.  There is a time where you are shedding the virus without active symptoms.  So there is a risk to your partners though the risk is low.

I'm sorry but you got tested with a test outside of the US that I am not familiar with. I can't really help you with your test results at all since I"m not aware of the test.   I suggest thatyou seek out a support group in your area that has someone familiar with the test you had done to guide you.
