Herpeselect Test Results

I was tested for HSV-1 & HSV-2 exactly 6 weeks and then 3 months after possible exposure.  The results both times for HSV-1 & HSV-2 were negative. This was a type specific IgG test (I believe it was the Herpeselect test).  I have read that it may take up to six months after exposure for antibodies to develop and for testing to be accurate.  I have not had any specific symptoms, other than some tingling/vibrating sensations that I attribute to anxiety.

1) How accurate/reliable are my negative results at the 3 month mark? How likely is it that the test failed to detect antibodies after 3 months?

2) Would you recommend further testing at 6 months?

Thanks in advance for your help.

This doesn't sound like a herpes issue.  Follow up on it with your provider.

Grace,

I mentioned earlier that I have been having periods of constant tingling of my scrotum.  I have had this feeling approx once every 3-4 weeks, lasting about 1-2 days.  Do you know what could be causing this?  Could this be HSV II (even though I was negative at 3 month mark)?  I also read it could be prostate related.  This is a real symptom and I'm confident it is not "anxiety related".

Do you have any information on this symptom?

should they reoccur, see your provider for proper medical evaluation. they could be many things and you've ruled out herpes.

One last question,
I have had a few red circular spots/bumbs.  Should I worry about that given the fact that my 3 months test was negative?

Thanks so much for your quick response.  Based on your answer, can I attribute the tingling/vibration sensations that I get every now and then to anxiety?

I am sick of worrying about this and am glad to hear that I can rely on the accuracy of my test results at 3 months.  Thanks!

I don't recommend any further testing.  It's not likely that you really have herpes at this point.
