Just some clarification. Yes, a cold sore can present in the area that you describe, on the edge of your lip. However, this cannot be a new infection if you've had HSV-2 for 7 years. It could be a recurrence of Type 1 if you got it before, or around the same period, as your HSV-2.
The virus can live a few minutes in saliva, but, according to all of our best researchers, HSV isn't transmitted via inanimate objects. In order to get the virus from the saliva to your eye, it would have to be open to expose the mucous membrane, and pressed onto the area your saliva landed on your pillow, at the moment that you began to drool. Doesn't sound remotely possible. :-)
no, needs some direct contact with some rubbing to force the virus into the nerve.
If I do have it and it can transfer in saliva what about when I'm sleeping with drool on my pillow as I'm a Hugh drooler, any chance of spreading it from pillow to my eye? Or when my child lays on my pillow with me while sleeping?
Typically it likes to show up on the same spot.
It's always in the same spot on my lip never in a different spot does hsv1 only show up in one spot?
Sounds like a pimple that you popped but if your concerned have a blood test to see if you have hsv1. As you know many many people have it and was acquired at childhood.
Also it does have a slight yellowish scab over it
What do you think it could be?
Hi, no its not charateristic of hsv1. The sore would be in your lip most often. Sores can show up on your face with recurrent outbreaks meaning youve had them before but from what you describe it doesnot appear as a herpes sore as are more blister type with clear fluid and if you popped it the virus would spread to the surrounding area which it did not.
Also chances of contracting hsv1 with being positive for hsv2 is highly unlikely as you have antibodies to help prevent.
