Is it Herpes ?

Discomfort in Penis

Copying from other thread:

have pain in the penile tip. I actually had sex with some un-known guest in office (sheer stupidity, not the point here though) and I used condom. Couple of days later, I had sex with my regular girlfriend and this was the first time I used a condom with her since she was on pills for 2 years and recently stopped. Another mistake - I used a condom lying in my car's glove box for almost 2.5 years (remember well since last bought condoms only around then). Durex Latex condoms.

Next day onwards, I have a burning (not too sever but easily felt and round the clock) on around the tip of penis. And slight tickling on and off in genitals, rectum, and around the scrotum. It's not itching but tickling and more I think about all over the body. No visible redness, sores etc around penis.

I am not sure whether it is some STD from that unknown or old condom from car is doing this ? It's 2 weeks now and I am planning to go for a STD test including Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis etc next week which would be roughly around 21+ days after exposure.

Any advice or symptoms I should be looking for ? I am reading that HSV can not be tested unless it's a real outbreak and I am restless if there can be some way to figure out what's going on.

Just precautionary I just started Azithromycin on my own, going to take it for 2-4 days, 500mg 1 dose daily ..... and to make matter worse, the original problem of burning penis stayed, from this afternoon - anal burning has also started.it's all bearable but strong enough to make it's occurrence felt ...... having some irritable bowl movements as well ... The penile tip is a little tender, but no pain yet.

I also learned from my friends, that the person I had sex with have been sleeping around with a lot of folks, don't know if that's true .....

I am kind of feeling now that an expired condom wouldn't impact anal area so probably i have caught up something ........ or it's all in the mind that's playing up ..

I am thinking of going to a planned parenthood center here in Texas sooner now  .....

Can it be Herpes ? Is there any real herpes test before any obvious sores or blisters come ?

your burning and rash are more likely to be fungal related from antibiotic use than std related.

yes, you understood the testing times correctly.

thanks Grace - sure I realized on antibiotic myself, meanwhile today is 16th day and I have a little burning sensation still left and also some redness/rash like (not really too itchy) round the scrotum ...

btw do I have the correct timelines for getting tested for the diseases after exposure:

1. gonorrhea  and chlamydia - 1 week like you said
2. syphilis - 6 weeks like you said
3. Herpes and HIV - 3 months (If no symptoms, what blood test should I be doing that can be reliable?)
4. HPV - no test available

Any other major STD which should be tested as well?

Freaked out and not looking at cost, just thinking of getting screened completely, sooner the better ... and I made a point on protecting my regular partner.

first off - the dose of azithromycin you started yourself on is the wrong dose to help with anything std related. self dosing of antibiotics is usually a bad idea and leads to unnecessary antibiotic use as well as screws up your std testing when you go to have it done!!

no reason for any topical antibiotic cream either.

is this std related? most likely no.

is this herpes going on? not likely either. really everything you've mentioned sounds more like a genital related anxiety from your random encounter more than anything.

since the condom you used was old and you have a regular partner, best to cover your bases with proper std testing to protect your regular partner. You can get tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea after 1 week post encounter. syphilis anytime after 6 weeks. herpes and hiv after 3 months.
