Recently just after my first sexual activity (i am 23old) , i got a little paranoid (it was unprotected oral sex), so i decided to have some test that was just one week after this possible exposure
The results were: negative Herpes type 2, negative type 1 (lgM) but a positive type1 (lgG)
My doctor sent me the results saying "you do have HSV type 1 (traditional herpes cold sores of the lips) from a past exposure = lgG not recent lgM"
I should schedule an appointment with my doctor but till then i am stressed and have a couple of questions:
- How old infection are we talking about, i mean how long it takes to have an lgG +ve after the infection are we talking about order of days/weeks/months i went for the test less than 1 week for the possible exposure i mentioned earlies
- If it is not due to my recent exposure, i just can't understand, this was my first sexual activity, can HSV be transmitted by another way?!
- Can lgG test be false, i can't recall i had a cold sores on my lips or any of the common HSV symptoms before
- Is there any tests to differentiate between oral and genital infections ?
Thanks in advance
