is it herepes?

I just came back from a trip [and had a red sort of hard bump/rash (no pimples or other heads) on my skin near few inches below waist line to right of my privates.  I went to a strip club and girl gave me hand job. she spit on it before I had a chance to say anything. This was my only sexual interaction. I noticed the bump 3 or 4 days later. there were no lesions etc. I took twizer and plugged some hair thinking it may be ingrown hair. next day or two days later (don't recall) noticed pus. thought I infected it. went to a dermatologist when I returned and he took culture to check. the dr believes that it is herpes from his experience. advised me that it may be in my system from 20 years back. my wife went nuts - thinks I whored around. my question is, is culture test accurate? think dr can tell fm visual exam? thx

I think this is too muich stress over the incident.

Best thing you did was come clean. Truly the way to unsurface real issues with your relationship.

thank you (and sorry for the 2 post)
My wife now is very understanding. We scheduled blood work.
I on the other hand have been a mess the whole weekend trying to determine if this  indeed herpes. I did not have any painful blisters etc. I did feel some tingling and pain yesterday (its almost healed) but when distracted by friends/conversation (and not thinking about it) , then pain was gone.

Not a good diagnosis. Anything of the genitals would need more caution than that. An initial outbreak always includes the area where the virus entered the body.

There is no chance of HSV infection from the epsiode you describe.

If the culture is positive, then there would be no doubt you've had the virus a long time. A blood test for you and your wife would then be a useful next step.
