More to the story

So I went to a walk in gyno in the city a few days ago complaining about a sore. It's happened to me before where I've had sex and the area between my anus and vagina gets kind of torn and irritated. So I wasn't too concerned when I felt this again. I had sex s few days prior to the visit and also took a plan b pill. The day after that I started to notice a very mind change in discharge with out any odor/ itching but it was starting to irritate the soreness. So I made an appointment for the walk in gyno. I also got a routine screening where she also took a culture of the sore. She put me on a bacterial medicine for the infection and she said from the looks of it the sores could be herpes and put me on pills as well. I was in a place of shock and non belief. A few days later the sore was gone and so was the discharge but I don't know what cured it all or at least resolved the problem.I got my blood test back which was negitive for herpes 2. But when I went to see them to have them explain the number system to me she told me my culture was positive for herpes 2. I just feel like so many things were going on with my body during the culture that idk what to think? I also have had mono in high school and a very weak immune system. Idk maybe I'm just in denial but I think maybe I should get tested again

Positive cultures are considered conclusive and trump any bloodtest. Bloodtests look for antibodies while the swap culture looks for the actual virus. Sorry for the not so great news. Sounds like the antivirals worked quickly. You nay want to consider daily antiviral therapy. This will cut down on shedding and outbreaks. You also should inform you partner
