My history

A number of years ago I kept getting a sore on my back around the belt line.  I never suspected herpes because I thought it would be on the penis.  I did have two sore on my penis under the forskin which I attributed to a hair that had dried there and I pulled out causing a bleed.  I've never had another problem on my penis.  OBs kept reoccuring (frequently) on my back and a swab test confirmed HV2.  I do remember having unprotected sex with my gf when I had something on my penis and several months later she began to have sensitivity, pain on peeing, and a lision on the bottom of her vagina.  (Not the labia) She was tested for HV 2 when she began to explore the possbilities what was causing her sensistivities, etc.  It came back negative.  that was 4 years ago. But she still has these symptoms (frequently) and sometimes after we have sex they manifest themselves which kind of turns her off as one might expect.   She hasn't been tested again but we are assuming she has HV 2 given the symptons.  She also is part of the communicable disease process and would be embarassed to have it known.  Can someone (female) describe their symptoms or relate to the ones she experiences?  I be pleased to ask Could she possibly not have it after all this time of unprotected sex?

Grace, he had a positive culture, not his partner.

How was your girlfriend tested, by blood or by culture? Has she ever had blood test for herpes 2 IgG? Blood tests take up to 4 months to become positive; if 4 months have passed since that episode, it would be ideal for her to get tested and learn about her status.

Also, she should be seen by a doctor to get a swab if the lesions reoccur, to get a prompt answer. Herpes is a variable virus (some people experience certain symptoms, others experience different symptoms), so it would be counterproductive to describe our symptoms so you can match with your girlfriends symptoms. It's better for her to be seen by an expert.

she had a + lesion culture so she knows she has it and has no reason to doubt it.

if she is bothered by frequent symptoms, she can consider daily suppressive therapy to control her herpes better.
