Nervou

I had protected sex (condom) about 10 times with a boyfriend who had HSV 2 (no outbreaks, just got a blood test) and HSV 1, I'm assuming, because he told me he used to get cold sores on his mouth when he was younger. Because of his history with the viruses, I visited my doctor for the Herpeselect test to make sure I didn't already have it as well and find out what I could do to protect myself. The tests results came back negative for HSV 1 and 0.98 for HSV 2. Does this mean I already had the virus?

My boyfriend and I broke up about 3 months ago, and the last blood workup was taken about 5 months ago so I went to my doctor today to get another blood test. Today was the first time I heard my .98 results and have been freaking out ever since. First of all, what does this mean? Second of all what are the chances of getting an increased positive reading when using condoms? Lastly, im not sure what caused it, but I had really chapped, swollen lips last week that resulted in tiny pin sized blisters along the whole rim of my top lip and 1 small, but still larger, blister on my lower lip. It wasnt painful, just felt sunburned or chapped. I'm not sure if it's due to tanning too much, a reaction to my chapstick/ new toothpaste, or whether I got a cold sore from my ex (I never saw one on him). If it was a cold sore and I just had my first "outbreak", will that affect the results of my HSV 2 test that I'm trying to once and for all get a conclusive answer to? Im freaking out bc I have no symptoms and just want to make sure I'm ok, but dont know the likelihood these tests will come back not in my favor. Please help me.

I received my test results today and was given numbers of .16 for HSV type 1 and .10 for HSV type 2. Can you explain what this means and why it has changed from a .98 5 months ago to a .10 for type 2? My doctor doesn't give the results- only the nurses- and they don't explain any of this. I'd like some clarity so I can figure out what is going on. Thank you.
